I’m looking to buy an 06 Tundra Sunday or Monday. This thing is beautiful. Previous owners really took care of it. The hydraulic jack even looks new. Miles are semi up there at 182k but obviously on low end for tundra. After getting screwed on a Tacoma, I plan to prevent that as much as possible. Carfax is clean, but what are some things I can look for before buying?
Also, they had two new catalytic converters installed so no check engine light. But I noticed that the downstream o2 sensor aren’t plugged in. Actually it is just gone, and the hole is gone too. Is that a big deal? Must of just chopped it out when new cats were welded in place.

RUST! That's your biggest thing. Seems pricey for a 2wd at 182K. Thats a $5500 truck

Cool, thanks. No rust on this bad boy. Yeah, price is up there. Going to try and get that dropped. I guess his logic is the camper is new and is worth about $1500-2000 from what I’ve seen online. Need to talk to him more. Carfax has the truck worth at about $8600.

Do you want the camper? Does it come with the original tailgate? Price is high for 2wd SR5. Has the work truck camper shell that no one wants and its had the exhaust modified with O2 sensors not utilized. That may give you fuel ratio issues since the computer no longer gets those inputs. Probably run rich and get worse MPG. Does look clean.

These trucks aren’t growing on trees. Here is what I pulled up on NADA.

Realistically the price should be like $8,000 plus whatever crap fees the dealer has and state tax. The most I’d probably pay for that truck is $9000 and that’s total, drive it home. I would keep looking if they don’t want to negotiate.

Please look at this link that I found. I’m not trying to burst your bubble, but this truck looks to have been damaged on both bedsides and the door area. If you go to look at it, please look closely at the work that was done. Here is the link I pulled up.

Tbh man. Everyone here is going to have extremely good advice, but your best bet is to take it to your mechanic, have him do the looking then u can look over yourself after. Pay for a pre purchase inspection

I just sold my 04 Double Cab 2wd for $7200 with 197k miles, if that gives you some perspective? Rust and the timing belt are the only big issues with these.

Also, this makes sense. There’s paint that looks semi mismatched. Which is why I was concerned. Though paint looked like it could of been faded. Regardless, we all know why now. The guy even said “clean title, no accidents.” What a pity. Such a beauty. Inside of it feels and smells brand new.

The body damage may have been repaired without Carfax picking it up. I am cautious with Carfax reports - best to have a thorough inspection via a qualified mechanic.

Unfortunately it is the same truck. It probably went to auction, the independent dealer bought it and repaired it. Problem is, there are so many shoddy body/paint repairs. However, If something like this is repaired correctly, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it.
