    Thanks!

    I’m at 2.8 width. They’re wide, but they’re fun.

He loves that bike, super happy with it and no complaints. Well, one complaint, his son always wants to jack it from him

His wife works at a bike shop, so he’s been able to borrow a demo bike while his son rides the Tallboy. In that pic he was actually just outside the frame riding a demo Orbea. He’s patiently waiting for a certain Trek EX to go on sale to grab that and let his son have his Tallboy.

Yesterday, I went exploring on Otay Mountain. Was hoping it was a closer-to-home version of Cleghorn with obstacles to please all skill levels. Not so much: mostly a series of interconnected fire roads, with just a couple of places to play. But it afforded what we needed: an opportunity for a complete novice to experiment with identifying and following a line through a series of deep ruts— first on level ground, then up a fairly steep incline... and back down. Outdoors all day = never a waste of time!E81A270A-4DB8-49B2-BC96-366F4CB9D834.jpgBE4808C8-48A4-4DD6-8874-7B43AB45770E.jpgBA8ECCB8-70E5-4F30-8737-5312005BB45F.jpg

And, because every off-road trip seems to include one rescue (and I like when it’s not me), we stopped to rescue a Ford:9832CC05-639A-423D-9E1D-CDC9D7864E70.jpg

They’d pulled to the side of the road to let oncoming traffic pass, then started out again without noticing their bald tire ;) was resting against the leading edge of this:E74733DA-3BC9-4DF7-B7BF-684F25D3582C.jpg

The guys said they’d been there 2+ hours, and been passed my multiple vehicles, before we stopped to help out. TBF, by the time I saw them, I saw the hood open, a single able-bodied guy with no shirt on... and feared a red-neck ambush. :help:

As soon as we stopped, another guy in a Jeep stopped. Weird world we live in. Can’t commit to getting involved unless someone else does so first. Not like when I was growing up. I can’t imagine passing by someone broke down in back country without checking in.

Also for you Nor Cal peeps, I’m up in SF now for a bit and looking to camp this weekend with some friends. I believe once drives an outback and one drives a XC90. Obviously I’m the only one with a rig rig.

Looking to do some primitive camping along the Russian river? They all camp in ground tents but I need my truck to camp. Any ideas? Anyone know any spots. Or other spots by water that you can swim and float in? Tryna hang in bathing suits and drink beer for a day or two. Much appreciated.

Hey, Zach! The Bastrds check our Shenanigans thread pretty regularly, but to reach a wider audience up north, I want to make sure you know about these threads as well. Prior to C-19 setbacks, all were pretty well attended:

love it. Came from a trek remedy and a specialized enduro before that. I outgrew the remedy and turned it into a Franken bike and sold it after I graduated before I had to drive cross country home. Finally got a proper bike that I don’t need to mod much.

SoCal homies need some ideas please. I’m looking for a place that has a nice stream that the kids can get in to? I looked up
Lytle creek and came across Applewhite picnic area. Any other places you guys might recommend? Looking for something not to far of a walk as I’m trying to take the in-laws also and well they are older already so trying to keep it close by. Also I’m willing to take a drive so thats not an an issue. I’m not trying to take your secret spot but just want some ideas. PM if that works better

Maybe forest falls. I think you can get in the water but I have no idea. It’s by Redlands/ Mentone area.

I was at Lyle Creek on Sunday. It was crazy packed with people. I’d avoid the creek over there.

convict lake is popular because it's easy to get in and right before Mammoth. Plenty of other lakes around for you to go though ;)
