I drive my tundra mostly on improved roads, BUT -- each season I use it to gather firewood and haul somewhat heavy crap around from time to time. Currently has a topper on it ( which adds weight ). I have some 5100's on the rear now, but they feel squishy / tired / maybe too little of a shock for what I'm doing? - I am looking to upgrade to a known good heavy duty shock that might handle heavier payloads but not drive like a freight train if I do hit some forest roads etc. Or should I be considering a spring pack shock combo?

    Thanks in Advance

Yes. The problem likely isn't your 5100's, it's your 15-20 year old leaf springs. Replacing the rear shocks on my truck did absolutely nothing to improve my ride. I'll be getting new leaf packs this year.

Springs support/suspend a vehicle and affect the load carrying ability. Shocks just dampen motion. If you want less sag while carrying a load, modify the springs. From your description, it sounds like air bags or Timbrens would be a good solution.

Guessing the Camper Shell weighs 300lbs? Buy a General Spring HD Spring (made for carrying 500lbs extra) or have a new set custom made $$$. Wooooweeeee!
