I meter tested that location a few months ago and it reads 30amps with ignition power off. I remember bringing it up and @empty_lord said it could be tapped but go no higher than 10-15amps.

How many amps and watts does that fridge require? You may need to run a heavier gauge cable to power it properly

That was a VERY tricky soldering job without a solder sucker. The first go round I put the led bulb in backwards and I thought I messed up the in-laid pathways on the board. SCARY!

Leds are like a check valve for electricity. Only flows one way.

I am considering doing this for a small fee. Obviously, I have only done the access cab style currently. Just an idea I'm kicking around.

The smallest bag of free leds I could find was 100 count so I have plenty of extra.

Well I'm INCREDIBLY sentimental over this truck in particular. The way I see it is that this truck will help me remember all the adventures Pops, and I have been on. All the good things I've experienced because of this truck. When I say I will drive this truck the rest of my life... I don't think most of you realize just how serious I am about that statement.
I was, and still am scared to work on my truck. Make no mistake about that.

I've learned through employment lots of practices, both good/bad. Drill, and tap holes. How to lift things.
How to fuck off on the clock.
ALWAYS use the correct tool if you can. For instance use the correct wrench/socket instead of an adjustable wrench, or vise-grips.

The most important lesson I've learned is plan ahead, and take your time. Don't get ahead of yourself.

Work has taught me a lot of things. Comes in handy working on a light duty truck. Keep in mind I'm used to changing out parts, and making adjustments on 20 ton injection presses.

@FirstGenVol I'd definitely check the nameplate on the fridge to see what you need. If it doesn't give it in amps, take the wattage and divide by 12. If the factory outlet is rated for that, you can take an add a tap directly from a constant hot in the fuse box, d/c the factory wire, and add the new one. 15A is 14 guage min, 20 is 12.

One thing to consider: 15A is a pretty large draw to put on a battery not being charged. If you don't have a good/newish battery, you might come out the next morning to a dead battery.

I was kicking that idea around for awhile. It would make my night shift jobs suuuu-weeeeeeeet! Eliminating the big bulky milwaukee rover. Me personally I would like to find a switch, and install it in such a way so they come only when the hood is up. Automatically!

Barring that a simple toggle switch would work too. Not sure how much heat LED strips can take though.

Actually, I’m in deep research on his light bulb door switch install right now. Been up all night analyzing the best solder tools and microchips needed to get things done.

@Professional Hand Model it took me some time to tinker with it to get it right. Gotta make sure the bulb is in the right way, and that you don't burn up the in-laid board pathways. A tricky job for sure! Good luck.

Many years ago I had an early eighties Chevy Suburban and it had an under hood light that had a built in mercury/tilt switch. The mounting of the light provided the ground and the positive was wired to a constant 12v supply. Putting in a halogen bulb made it a really bright under hood light, I'd imagine something like it exists in LED form nowadays.

Here's a pic I found online that looks very similar to the light my truck had...

Sweet-ness. Might be hard to mount on our hoods without a pre-made stud being on the hood. I was just gonna look into using the left over LED strips I have, along with the wiring, and etc.

I bought one of these the other week and it perfect. Rechargeable. Nice light. Strong magnet and lightweight. Has three modes.
