I would use that stud finder and find two studs in the middle of the wall outside the tiled area, verify they are 16" on center, and measure off of one of them.
Corner studs don't always fall evenly if the room is an odd size (or one not divisible by 16), and it can throw you off.
Depending on the tile and mortar used, it should add about 1/2" to the thickness in that corner to factor in.

Some sort of mythical machine used in those "cold" places.
I grew up in Florida and now live in Texas, so I have never seen one in the wild myself. :notsure:

That would be ideal. Unfortunately, the outside wall only allows access to about 2 1/2' of the showers 4' 10" width.

I may have to wait until the wife is gone, crawl up into the attic and see what I can see from there. She fell through an attic ceiling at our last house and I'm no spring chicken, and she would freak out with me crawling around up there digging through the insulation.

I would love to just pay someone to do this but that usually ends in paying them and then fixing their work and doing it myself anyway.

Studs will be 16" apart unless your house is older than dirt. It's why tape measure have every 16" highlighted. To help the weekend home improver with locating studs. They can be 18" or even 24" if it was built before dirt was made. Drywall thickness, or in this case concrete wall, is no more than an inch thick, usually 5/8ths. The concrete sheets are anywhere from 1/4" to 5/8ths. So you have to figure in the thickness of the tile. (1/4" ?) Floor to ceiling tile kinda screws you over here. Personally, I am not a fan of using toggles for something load bearing like a grab bar. But if that's what you gotta use, that's what you gotta use. How big of a base/footprint does the grab bar have? How much of a mistake will it cover is what I'm asking.

Is it me, or are laundry rooms and bathroom drywall more of a hollow, thin asf type?

Usually anywhere there is water like bathrooms, dishwashing areas, etc. greenboard is used. It's denser than regular drywall. Now I'm not a drywaller so I don't know exactly what calls for certain types of drywall, but I've had to cut through my share of the stuff in 20 years of being a sheet metal worker.

And now for something completely different. I had my garage pretty much squared away then this happened. Buddy of my texts me and said “I got a present for you. Barely used. Free.”

    02B6B8A5-0A58-47B1-820C-981B25B05775.jpg

And it’s wired for 208v which my garage has.

Thin drywall makes it a pita for drywall anchors. Gotta get shorter ones for them with longer screws

Very little margin for error. The flange is 3" but the screw holes are at the edge of the flange. Studs are 16" in my home, so guessing they are the same in the shower. I'll probably take my best guess at where they are, measuring from the corner, and if I miss I'll still have 3 screws holding each flange. Unless we are hanging from it I'm pretty confident it'll hold.

Oh yeah it chaps my ass too. I hate when things don’t match. I’ll take them down in the morning and already ordered replacements. I may be able to use these ones in the back yard but I dunno

That’s nuts! I’m guessing that’s not his house to the right, that’s some type of event center? Lol

I picked up a measley olé 3200 lbs of boulders just now (2 loads).
Tundra did 1700 lbs no problem :D
    Fun begins tomorrow!

It's like a lawnmower for your driveway in winter. The Woman is on my case to buy one this winter if we can scrape together the coin. She's tired of using shovels to clear snow. I tell her it builds character. Apparently she has enough character...
