I need to do rear brakes on my 06 DC, anyone have any recommendations on a kit to use? Would love all OEM, but don't have it in my budget right now.

Drums necessary? I have 214k on the truck so might be a good idea.

Your call but might be able to turn them. OEM drums are best. Others experience problems with aftermarkets so you may be wasting your money if you do this. Also, the OEM have a balance weight on them and aftermarkets do not. Balance is good.

(Camper conversion underway.) Rebuilt engine w/265K miles, A.R.E. camper shell (w/cab pass-through, rooftop fan, and side windows delete), bedlinered steel ladder rack (w/wooden rooftop deck and hammock mount), all LED lights (red dash, 4" side floods, 32" rear bar), Android head unit, 1.5" lift from Bilstein 5100 struts, 32" DuraTrac tires on factory rims, 1.5" wheel spacers, Moog suspension parts, SuperSprings leaf kit, diff drop, Reese trailer brake control, GoRhino Hitch Step, debadged, F-150 rear bumper, Sequoia center console unit upgrade, partial rear bench seat delete, dashcam, aftermarket speakers, 50% sound deadening coverage, custom tools unit.
All fixed now! There was a clog inside, preventing the system from holding a charge. Not sure if it was any of that stuff you said. Man, it is such a luxury to have AC during the summer.

That was my last (hopefully) major repair. Next on the list is body mounts but I'll focus more on the camper conversion now.

Excellent! Do you have any good reading links for the body mounts?

This is more common than you think, and a critical mistake I made when I was retrofitting an old 60s pickup of mine with an LS1 like 15-something years ago. I didn't know it was necessary to vacuum the lines out before charging.

Off the top of my head, a generic auto AC system works by expanding and compressing the coolant gas you inject into it. Picture compressing the hell out of a gaseous coolant then cramming it through a funnel with a pin-hole at the end of it - that's essentially what happens at the compressor, then at at the orifice tube if memory serves. The result of that process is hyper-cooling the gas, which then passes by tube to the evap coil in your dash, your blower motor blows air through the coil to cool you off. After exiting the coil, the gas passes through the drier valve, then to the the expansion valve, which lets the gas re-expand, at which time it generates shitloads of heat, and gets cooled by the AC radiator in front of the car, then back to the compressor for another round. That's the best I can explain and it's probably inaccurate. Just how I remember it.

Anyway, long story short, back then I didn't understand how important it is vacuum the lines any time you replace a component so no debris gets in there, and how worthwhile it is to go ahead and replace the orifice tube (if used in your system) and the drier valve in some cases. If you can't vacuum your own lines, many shops will vacuum, test for leaks and recharge for nominal fee. Hopefully you didn't pay too much to have them check.

I'm guessing they checked for pressure on the low pressure and high pressure sides and found things were out of whack, which led them to vacuum and recharge.

Yeah. Its Himalayan Monsoon Season. Perfect time to climb Mt. Everest.

Worked on this driver side for 4 hours today. Success achieved on:

    1) Window Rattle Looseness. She is snug now! Greased up the gears and the drivers window beats the passenger by .0345 seconds now. Fairly easy.

    2) Speaker install. Easy.

    3) LED Strip install. It fought me on every angle of attack. Tested the Hand Skills at Black Belt Levels! Glad I broke this one up into 3 Phases. Way too much work, but I’m stoked on it.

Well I'm kaput, Bigg day! Steering rack, steering pump, high pressure line, tie rods, sway bushings, sway end links, spidertrax spacers, bleed and test drive....steering wheel is a little crooked and need an alignment. Also need to get wheels re balanced as the shop I had install is filled with kids.

Anyone ever had a shudder or jumble in the wheel (when lifted off the ground) after rack install. I bled 5 quarts through it to get air out and will probably run synthetic through it after a few days of driving to clear any left over gunk. I put in a in line filter too for good measure.

2 keg posts at the same time? Wow.

In college I had a buddy go pick up a keg in his Durango. By the time he made it back to the party his back window was shattered out because he never strapped it down.

We were way more concerned about the beer though.

I would think mine passes inspection, but we dont have that here in GA. Just emissions once a year and that's county by county.

So I have a possibly stupid question but its something ive been curious about.

Would it be possible to convert a V8 Auto Trans Tundra to manual trans? It must not be feasible because Ive never heard of anyone doing that, but just thought id ask.

I have a handyman friend that takes on all kinds of upgrades for his clients.
    He is often quoted in saying;

"We'll get you that new kitchen of your dreams if it takes all the money you have."

Same would apply here as you alluded to with the conversion to manual transmission . . .

Test drove on speed bumps in a parking lot that usually rattle the windows when half way down. They’ve passed the test with the track fix.

A reminder of these sill jamb stops that keep the large door from jolting down on large bumps. Combo’d up both of these fixes keep the truck quiet when the going gets rough which is mainly on mall speed bumps.

Pictured is the proto-type test form duct taped in place for testing. Once they passed the test I removed the duct tape and added double sided Gorilla Tape for adhesion. Installed a second layer on the ‘bump contact’ side for padding and left it with the contact plastic on so it wouldn’t stick the door shut! The shim is a composite type from big box. Basically any hard plastic that fits will do.
