    I ve been reading about the various upgrades one does on the 5.7 v8, but haven t seen much about the heads, or cams. (I keep thinking about my chevy rat motor days). Porting and polishing is a given for improved flow in any head, but what about more radical cam grinds? Has anyone played around with cam lifts and durations for the 5.7? I m thinking the computer would be a major obstacle, but someone must have done something like this.

    Does this mean other mods folks have made to their 5.7L aren't real?

    Not in the least. I see the error in my post. My appologies. What I meant by real is subtantial modification. Modification that used to be common before the use of ecu s.

    I’ve done a bunch of work and testing with custom camshafts on the Tundra.

    The 5.7 already flows almost twice as much air as a 1970s 350 chevy, has variable cam timing, and higher compression.

    Likewise.
    Additionally, I’d like to see the upgraded intake and throttle body. Or better yet, a S/C on top of it.
    I imagine there would be some serious tuning required to dial the thing in.

    Why not? A 350 chevy is 5.7 liter. OP was talking about the old days when people had to upgrade the heads, cam, piston on a 200hp smog small block to get the same power as what the toyota 5.7 makes from the factory.

    Back then if your 350 chevy or 351 ford make 381hp people would have said that was fast. If they wanted more power they would either gotten a big block engine or use a power adder like nitrous or supercharger. A supercharger on the toyota 5.7 is going to be the best bang for your buck. If you want more of course you will have to open up the engine, but it's not like the old days. A monkey can rebuild a 350 chevy with a crescent wrench and a blindfold on. A monkey could probably install a blower on a toyota too.

    I thought I would reach out to Pure Performance Motorsport. I sent them this email;

    "I have a 2007 Tundra with this engine, and have been looking for something like this. Is the Toyota Tundra V8 3UR-FE 7.0L Stroker Kit still available? I see on your website a date of 2016. If so, do you have or know of any videos of a running 3UR-FE V8 with kit installed. Id like to hear and see it running."

    Their response;

    "Where are you from?
    We have done many engines for Middle East Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, ect and they are working without problems. Yes they are available but made to order currently due to the Covid-19 situation. Sorry we can’t give out customers information’s as we have confidentiality agreements with them.
    Kind Regards
    Peter"

    Not that I was planning on buying their kit. I would like to hear how it sounds though, and I don t think it s an unreasonable request.

    Obviously you forgot the Aussies only think an acceptable engine is any engine from the movie Mad Max.

    Haha I haven’t forgotten, I just thought mad-max engines were scrounged together with some crap parts. Not a $58000 engine haha. That’s insane. I wish I could afford one, it’s prolly mad max power and torque. Spray some silver spray paint in my face and let me ride!
