2018s have the same LED headlight options. The need for the resistor will depend mostly on the signal bulbs themselves, and then a little luck. My passenger side did it intermittently, the driver side didn't do it at all. But I ended up putting resistors on both just to get in front of it.

I stand corrected...for some reason I thought these new lights came out in 2019. Should have realized since the recall is for 2018-2020 MY's. Off the top of my head, I can't remember which bulbs I installed. I've had them in for about 6 months with no issues. Last weekend I was in a funeral procession for about 45 minutes with my flashers on the whole time...still blinking strong. I just don't want to have them complete this update and than have issues. I'll probably watch this thread for a bit before I make a decision. Thanks again!!

That was me back in February after reading through the "My turn signals anger me" thread. It was $16 well spent.

Dealer did the turn signal and fuel pump recall yesterday. Now I've got fuel shooting out of the headlights and something's flashing under the truck...

No seriously, thanks to the forum for keeping these recalls in everybody's scan.

Looks like Blue Berry needs the ticker fixer... I didn't even notice (mainly because I am inside when the blinkers are blinking) until I read the post on here about the recall and sure as heck they are quite dim!! Looked up the VIN in the recall looker upper and she is on there, so off to the dealership whenever the fix is available!

Thanks to whomever brought this to our attention!

I fixed mine and still have the stock bulbs etc so hopefully they will just close out the recall without any BS.

Had my 2018 SR5 Doublecab done on Aug 14th for the fuel pump and the front turn signals, definitely much brighter. Took the dealership about 5 hrs. When I purchased my truck back in Oct 2018, I always thought the turn signals weren’t very bright, noticed it the day I picked up and inspected the truck before accepting. I actually thought it was just normal, didn’t questioned it and drove away.

TRD rear sway bar, console organizer, stubby antenna, LEDs for cabin, cargo, license plate, and reverse lights, power-fold mirrors, Westin nerf bars, full stereo upgrade. Future - color-match grill surround/bulge, mirror caps, handles, plasti-dip badges.
I fixed the wiring on the driver's side on my 2018 limited today, but no real difference between that side and the passenger side. I replaced the bulbs with LEDs a while ago, and the bulbs I have must take advantage of the higher wattage regardless of wire position. I'll look again tonight when it's dark to see if it makes any difference.

The wiring doesn't determine the brightness, its the filament in the bulb that determines brightness, Dual filament bulbs have both a 8 watt, and a 24 watt draw. so switching wires jusst determines which filament is being activated.

I got the notice in the mail on Monday, I had my 10K service interval scheduled for yesterday so I had them tack it on - awesome timing and I'm glad it was resolved. As soon as I saw the mail I thought of the posts/thread here about the issue.

Anyone know if Toyota can do the recall fix with the headlights still on the truck? I have fiberglass fenders and the lights can't come off the truck without removing the fenders.

From what I was told they remove the battery on one side and the washer fluid tank on the other side to access the bulbs.

Thank you @Hoff and @thomasbus337 ! I have the recall on my 2020 Platinum. Thanks to @2020Platinum for making the youtube video on the simple DIY fix. Dealer can easily and visually see next time I take it in leads are in correct position and in meantime I can feel safer while awaiting recall letter and next dealer visit:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Mv7YaLUx44

From the video "I don't like other people touching my truck unless they have to"... exactly.

It took me about 20 minutes, and I actually did NOT remove grill, headlight assembly, battery or windshield washer reservoir. I have long fingers and only had to hold my breath once when one of the lil rubber grommets fell below the battery but it took a favorable bounce so I could retrieve it easily and reuse it.

I don't have LED retrofit so this gives you good before / after best I could do catching flashes at brightest:
