Hello all , was under my truck today and spotted this seep / sweat / leak . Look like engine oil coming from where the timing cover meets the block or cylinder head .. it's behind the alternator near the top mount . See attached pictures
... Anyone run into this before . It's a non issue as of right now . No drips or anything but just looks like a seep through the dab of grey sealant . Definitely not cam tower .IMG_20200721_185902.jpg IMG_20200721_185902.jpg IMG_20200721_185953.jpg

I’ve seen One similar. It was the timing cover. But it didn’t protrude as far out as yours does to the head.

looks like your cam tower is leaking, common for these trucks, i would get that looked after under warranty, cause thats an expensive job. If you search cam tower repairs there is a huge write up about it.

It's not even close to the cam tower !

Hard to tell, but most cam tower leaks starts here.

Yes I know but if you can understand where my leak is you will realize that it's not the cam towers ..
My leak is behind the alternator at the front of the engine . Just lower than the exhaust manifold .

The cam tower areas on my engine are clean and dry .

I'm pretty sure now it's the timing cover rtv sealant seeping a little oil

The timing covers have been known to leak on some engines. It's probably prudent to have it documented by your dealer just in case it becomes worse down the road.

If your under warranty have em look at it. If not. Just live with it. Only ever seen one leak bad. Plenty 300k plus that have seeped since early in their life with no issues.

resealing that covers a PITA almost as bad as cam towers.
