What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Neowise the comet with cloud cover on the horizon. Couldn't get any good pictures of the heat lightning. Also Couldn't find neowise with the zoom lens. I tried, and tried for the last 2 hours.

Borrowed a friends trailer and picked up a play set for the kids. After 4 months of not being able to got to a playground we decided to get one for my in-laws place. Truck towed great except I don’t have any places to have the safety chains from the trailer. Swore by other 06 Limited had them but this hitch had nothing. Looks like I’ll be looking for someone to fab some hooks or replace the hitch.

 

Well. I’ll be there tomorrow with a trailer and $500.
It’s totalled dude.

 

It’s hard to beat Toyota filters for the price. I’ve cut them open along with a bunch of others. By far the Toyota’s superior to most off the shelf filters.




And they’re cheap and available at Walmart these days for shiny 7 bucks

I meant the OEM oil filter specifically.

order a box of 12 off a dealer for 60 bucks and be set for a while. the toyota filters are seriously hard to beat for the price.

 

OE and mobile 1 if you’re talking oil

I know oil is super important, but if the oil is being changed frequently enough that it's still a shade of golden - I'm not sure Fram is going to be the cause of failure to one's engine. Lot of guilting going on here about that Fram.
I've run Mann filters back in the day before they cheapened them, I've run Fram on vehicles I didn't care about, but I've always changed my oil at 3k or when it starts getting dark. I've yet to have a motor fail on me & I've taken (IIRC) 7 motors to over 200k. Several more to the 150k, 170k range.
Right now in the drive there's 158k wearing a Fram, 208k wearing whatever was on sale, and 211k wearing whatever the mechanic put on it. No rod knocks, no blue oil out the tailpipes, never had to change a turbo.

 

I've seen a lot of good regarding the wix filters. That's what I run. I'll probably keep an eye out next time I'm at waltermeat though. I didn't know they'd have anything OEM.

 

I get it. Just wouldn’t be the place I’d save a few bucks on is all. Maintenance is the key though

 

I bought a 10 pack of the YZZD-3 about 2 years ago for $45. Delivered to the door. Local Stealer Programme has them for $4 (fo dolla).

Ye. The New Programme is sweet.

Best prices anywhere except/unless I can source directly like my Hitachi MAF or the Denso Ignition coils and those items are usually half the stealers.

 

Alright, reallly? I put a k&n filter without wanting to increase performance i just thought they were good filters.. what should i use ? Any recs?

 

AEM DryFlow for sure

 

No issues with AEM DryFlow for me. Used it on 4 vehicles and no problems.

 

Changed the oil in my 2006 today. Couldn't find a funnel. My husband blew my mind with his solution.

 

I've done it. Used all sorts of bottles.

Water bottles, coke, pepsi, etc.

 

Anyone know which wire to tap into for camper shell brake light. It's just a basic red +, black -

I'm guessing green for positive and white/black for negative

 

My only gripe with Frank comes from seeing the filters internally fail and cook engines. It’s the only brand of filter I’ve seen do that. (The bypass valve failed on 3. It killed the engine on 2 of them)

 

Is that thing only visible at sunset? I've been looking at night like a dummy and missing it.

 

Yes. Local time for me is best around 9pm. Central. I think it would be 8 pm for you?

You may have too much light pollution also because with the naked eye for me it is REALLY hard to see. I used long exposure photos to capture it digitally.
