Hello all, I think I have watched every video on YouTube of both of the systems mentioned, but most of the videos have the camera mounted to the bumper or are just idle videos/in cab videos. Just looking for clips of trucks with either exhaust driving by and/or doing a fly by. Can't tell in the videos ive seen how the sound under load and still am undetermined if the 8" will be too loud or the 10" not loud enough. As always, if there's a post I should be going to to hear these, feel free to redirect me. Thanks in advance all

    Too many…scratch that…not done yet.
    I don’t have a vid... but I’ve had the 8” for a couple years.
I know you’re asking about sound, but it really does come down to use.
If you’re towing a fair amount, get the 10”.
    If not, get the 8”.
Good low, throaty rumble on take off. With nannies off and using S mode, 2nd and 3rd are my favorite.
    No drone at cruising speed
    Perfect system IMO.

    I have the 8" system

    Before (stock)

    https://youtu.be/nW7zMZ1gkbk

After with 8 inch (no resonator)

    https://youtu.be/aj7jmh02UXA

And here is my post about adding the resonator:

Just wanted to give an update for anyone interested. I ran the 8 inch w/o resonator for about 2 months and just put on the resonator. My first impression without the resonator was that the truck was much louder than i expected. I wasn't sure if I liked it to be honest. On a long trip you could hear it at cruising speeds. From what I read here I thought it would only be noticeable at WOT. Over the 2 months it really grew on me though. I found myself revving it, flooring it, and using the "manual mode" just to hear it. Very immature I know :p It definitely had a little more power over stock that I could feel. It also would backfire some. Yes it did have some drone but it wasn't terrible.

So over this past weekend I had access to a lift and decided to go ahead and put the resonator on. Wasn't too hard with lift access and a hole saw. I took off the spare tire just to make it easier.

First impression with the resonator is that it definitely took the drone out that I had from about 1800-2000RPM. But also right off the bat it didn't really have that oomph on cold start. Also it feels like it may have sucked out that little bit of power that I gained without it. Additionally, its noticeably more quiet until you get high in the powerband. With the resonator its much more like what I had read about what to expect from this set up. At cruising speed its quiet but if you romp on it you can hear it. I kind of miss the rawness now it had without the resonator but this is much more daily friendly. Doesn't really backfire any more and even at WOT it seems a bit toned down than before. Its almost like a silencer in a way. Also I can once again hear the engine over the exhaust with the resonator where I could not without the resonator.

I would suggest for anyone wonder to go without it first and see if you can live with it and if its just too much add the resonator. Just wanted to share my .02 in case anyone was wondering what to expect with and without the resonator. But I'm very happy with the set up and wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Cheers:thumbsup:

General rule, if you tow a lot get the 10" because there have been some that feel the 8' is too much when under a constant load. If you don't really tow then get the 8" for sure. I can't think of anyone that ever thought it was too loud if they didn't tow with it.

I don't tow too much so that part is out of the equation. I came from a ram with a flowmaster super 44 and while it did sound great it did get a bit tiring always having the truck be "on" so to speak. That's why I'm just looking for cruise by kind of videos. Those that have posted they do sound great though!

I have had both. The 10” without the resonater is just right IMO. Even towing, it is not bad.

@2020Platinum did an install vid for the 10" system with some comparisons to stock (not exactly what you were after) and he has a good drive by. Use headphones for better quality. Video should be at the comparisons portion if it did it right.

My 8" is on the way, I might try it without the res. and see if I like it

Yep those kind of vids are what I'm after, I watched that vid just to make note of exhaust hangers and tools needed but must have stopped watching early lol

10" sounds good though, not too intrusive at all. His stock sounds louder than mine to begin with haha

I don't tow at all... cruising produces a light rumble similar to stock, and WOT scares drivers around me as I leave them behind.

Keith can build what you want using longer mufflers for quieter cruising... they all come alive when you floor it.

Ranch Hand Summit Front Bumper/Guard 3) Ranch Hand Summit Bumper 4) Billstein 5100s all around 5) TRD front and rear sway bars 6.) Rough Country wheel to wheel steps 7) Pioneer 8400 NEX Wireless ApplePlay 8) Backup Camera: e-raptor 9) LED white lights replaced in headlights, fog lights, inside cabin, and exterior lights 10) Linex (unbranded by Central Texas Truck Coatings) 11) OEM Toyota side panels and generic panel on tailgate Maintenance/Repairs: 1) Valve covers, belt tensioner, alternator belt - $415 2) Evaporation fuel canister and filter replacment $1547 *This was a Toyota TSB for 07-08 AFAIK. Not bad at all. 3) Pioneer Unit - had to ship to Pioneer to replace Output IC - $45 (shipping) free under 1 year warranty fix 4) Pioneer Unit - Electrical feed back coming through speakers when accelerating. Fix was to check all wiring/tighten up/ make connections good again $42. 5.) Rear passenger door actuator replaced. Part was $287 with tax on ebay from Toyota dealer free shipping. 6.) Rack and Pinion, tow mirrors, shocks install, lifetime alignment - $1884.36
I got the 10 with resonator and was hoping it would be louder and deeper sounding inside the cab. It’s not terrible but felt like i wanted more oomph and deepness. Tundradude34 seemed to love the 8 with resonator. I like my 10 but don’t love it. Just doesn’t seem like right fit for me. Considering to swap for the 8 with res soon.

Without the resonator running did you install the block off plate? I rewatched your install video; looks like you did not install the resonator after all, and would not need the block off steel plate.

Keith noted it would be louder in the cabin with the 10 and block off plate than the 8 with resonator. Was that your experience?

I ordered the block off plate after watching your video. Sound and loudness is so subjective, everybody is gonna be different. Hoping the block off plate works out. I'll keep my resonator handy if I want it back, or end up returning it to get the 8 inch with res.

Sorry, I’m just seeing this!...been offline a lot lately for the holidays...haha...no block off plate for me, just the system itself with no resonator or block off...I still have my resonator sitting in garage but I have no plans of ever installing it!

I installed the resonator and am quite happy. If I ever think “gee, it seems awfully quiet...”, I just roll a window down... BAM. Still there, still throaty AF.

    10” DD + resonator
