hey, @Tundraproud20 , if you are willing to travel to Utah there are some Tundras available here https://www.malonetoyota.com/all-inventory/index.htm?compositeType=new&make=Toyota&model=Tundra thought I've heard they are pain to work with. Might be something to look at.
If you are willing to wait you can contact these guys and maybe lock in a price. https://www.markmillertoyota.com/ne...ke=Toyota&model=Tundra&year=2020&search=Truck

Edit: I should add that you have to call to get accurate prices, and if you like the price get it in an email so they can't jerk you around.

Here’s another question. Do you think I’ll get more from trading it in or just giving it up to CarMax?

Get your CarMax quote and use it as a baseline. If you have it in writing and a dealer low balls you, you can show it to them and call them on the low offer.

I can understand that. It's all about what it's worth to you. If the deal is a couple grand better in Utah then that would help with the crazy California taxes. Also, DON'T FINANCE YOUR TAXES AND LICENSING! It's crazy to pay interest on these in addition to your loan. Make sure you have enough saved up to cover the taxes and licensing separately.

But I believe once I register my truck back in CA after buying it from Utah, I would have to still pay the difference in taxes once my truck is back in CA since it’ll be registered here

Don't pay any taxes in Utah. You have a grace period to pay them, so don't bother with it if you are buying out of state. Just pay it all at home. I bought from Utah, but paid in Wyoming a month later. I did it because Wyoming's sales tax is lower as well, but it just makes it easier if you don't have to try and keep track of two separate documents proving taxes have been paid.

While prices on new trucks are high due to low inventory right now, that also means trade in value on your current truck should also be higher, assuming it doesn't have any major issues.

Didn't notice anyone mention this yet: if you do decide to get an SR5, make sure you get one with the upgrade package to get the larger fuel tank.

What year is your GM and why are you looking to get out of it, if you don't mind me asking?

It’s a 2020 GMC Sierra 2500. MSRP was around 50k. It has under 2000 miles on it. Stuff is already rattling and making noises so I’m gonna take the loss and move into a tundra like I should have from the beginning.

Damn..A 2020! Sell it on your own should be easy! Local bank will do all the title, payoff, loan paperwork! You’ll get soaked trading it!

Then get all your finances in place B4 you buy a new one? Sometimes you have to finance through Toyota to get the rebate but you can just refi after 1 month. They will often lie and say you have to wait 6 months!

My wife bought her 2019 RAV4 XSE at Mark Miller Toyota in Utah. Great experience with them FWIW

Pre-Covid world, I bought my 2020 Tundra mid-August of 2019. They'd just unloaded it off the truck that afternoon and hadn't put it on the lot yet. Doing the paperwork the guy said it was the first 2020 they had sold.

Yeah I’m thinking it’s easier just to let it go to CarMax or trade it in. Plus I heard they need trades in so they might give a little more than usual idk we’ll see! Thanks for your knowledge tho!

I got my 19 new for 43.5k in mid august last year. I don't think the 2020's were on the lot yet, but they were offering 3k rebate as early as july and worked with me on the price some. someone on here said they've bought 18 tundras for their business and always ends up at exactly 11.2% off of MSRP after haggling. I'm no extreme haggler, but was 10.8% off if I recall correctly.

The 43.5 was without TTL. The MSRP I'm not 100% certain on. I'm guessing now, and my number is coming up to more like 9%. I may have seen the 10+% in my pre-purchase math. I felt good about it either way. Did well on my trade too.

I recently picked mine up. It was the last Platinum on the lot. Listed at $57,300 and purchased for $52,500. They cut a little from the aftermarket items from 4WP. Before TTL it was $60,125. F0B04FC9-7726-446A-A7C5-9D27978154C2.jpg

Carvana has a sell option on their site that will give you a 7 day offer. I did mine to see what it was and it was 4K higher than the dealers offer. Still no way I would let my truck go for 16K.

You should be able to pay taxes for your state. I live in South Carolina and purchased my Tundra in Florida. I paid South Carolina sales tax and estimated property tax at the dealership. I ended up with a $24 refund as they slightly overestimated the tax. They were still pretty close.

Ok noted. Yes I will look into it as someone else was helping me out with it as well. I won’t limit myself to only the dealers near me
