So I’m looking to trade in my GMC 2500 for a tundra. Any idea what month exactly will 2021 tundras hit the lot so I can try to swing a deal on the leftover 2020 models? I’m trying to get into a tundra ASAP. Thanks guys

    Welcome to the forum.

Scuttlebutt is that with Covid shutting everything down, there are no new trucks being produced and the current stock is starting to run low. I don't think anyone has an exact launch month for the next model year yet.

Azure, you think I still might be able to get a deal on a 2020 then? Or should I wait? I can’t stand my GMC another minute.

Probably depends on how desperate dealers in your area are to make a sale. If I were you, I would try to negotiate if you find one to your liking and see how it goes. You can always wait if the deal doesn’t seem sweet enough for you.

That is a deeply personal question that would be based on finances and what you want out of a vehicle. As long as you know the cons of the Tundra and are ok with it and it won't put you in a bad way financially; then, yes. If you aren't familiar with the drawbacks or it will make things too tight on the wallet, I would wait.

Toyota says the 2021 trail edition is coming summer 2020 so I assume end of next month.

    https://www.toyota.com/upcoming-vehicles/trailspecialeditions/

I also don’t expect the dealerships to be doing much for deals. The 20’s are selling like hot cakes around here. The dealership I went to had the largest stock of Tundras in all of Northern California, they had about 30-35 in stock when I started looking a month ago. Now they’re down to 9. They don’t appear to be restocking either. All other surrounding dealers have maybe 2-4 Tundras.

I was in the same boat! Couldn’t wait to ditch my 2500 HD Silverado! Walked away a couple times until I got the right deal..Might be a little tougher now with limited supply? Start looking I’m sure there are deals to be had some where?

My dad has owned tundras his whole life so I get the cost of owning one. Main thing is just gas, besides that is very low cost to own in his experience. I think I’m gonna start shopping around but if I have to wait, I will.

I’ve noticed that dealers aren’t restocking. Maybe I do just need to get one already before they’re gone.

I was more meaning that the tech is old and the 2019+ don't have external transmission coolers. If anybody buys a truck for fuel economy they are barking up the wrong tree. Pushing a brick through the air takes a bunch o' fuel! :burnrubber:

I’m an old school kind of guy anyways. I don’t need cameras from the sky telling me how to park or I don’t need a TV screen on my dash. I love the simplicity of the tundra. Gets the job done and doesn’t ask for much

If its like most years the discounts start in September, which is when we start seeing the new model year. When I bought my Pro it was the end of September and I was able to secure a discount. Regular models on the lot at that time were anywhere from 4k to 9k off. Platinums could be picked up for around 42k, which was a 7k markdown at the time. This applies to the PNW at least, YMMV.

If you’re picky about what color you want then I’d just go for it. I specifically want a black crewmax so that’s limiting me. My dealership only had a Pro and platinum in black. I am unfortunately, not made of money.

(The Pro sold right after I left the dealership)

I’m not made of money either and I actually am learning how to budget or have money management. I justify the fact that I’m gonna drive my tundra for a really really long time so I figure I can try to splurge a little here when I get my truck but who doesn’t want a great deal!!

On that same note, a black CrewMax is great looking. Dad has one in 1794 trim. Great looking truck especially after lift and wheels

I bought my 2019 in June of last year. Sticker was $47,XXX to start. then they had a $2500 rebate from Toyota and their "internet special pricing" put it to 41,XXX before any negotiations. Full disclosure, I didn't try hard. I just took my trade and asked for a lateral move in my overall debt. If I had fought I might have gotten them down a bit more, but it just wasn't worth the hassle to me.

Remember, a good deal is one you're happy with.

Understood. I appreciate your help. I will look for a deal and try to be patient. At the the same time I know my tundra will last long so I will get my moneys worth out of it even if I don’t end up with the best deal out there if that makes sense

    Still rolling stock baby....
I had my dealer look into ordering a trd pro in lunar rock. I was told no go, that the plants are not taking any orders since there is a such a huge back log from the shutdowns.

So that leaves me with a few questions,

Will the orders that still need to be filled be 2020 models or 2021 models?

Also how does the shut down effect the release of the re design tundra?
