    The new HU won't work with an iPod Classic. Only does iPods over Car Play. Ok, fine. I can work around that. Also means I don't have to keep remembering to bring my iPod home from work before a road trip.

    Grabbed an older 4 gb USB 2.0 thumb drive I had kicking around the house and just filled it up with a bunch of random songs in the root folder. Worked great so I figured a big USB that could hold all my music would be perfect.

    Neglected to read the manual before buying a 128 gb USB 3.0 thumb drive - I'll fully admit that one's on me.

    I initially saved each album in its own folder. It let me listen to the first album but would not switch albums. It also took too long to load the folder list. So I reformatted it and loaded songs into the root folder, as I'd done on my small thumb drive.

    Now I can't get the new thumb drive to work with the truck at all, regardless of how I format it or save the songs on the thumb drive.

    Finally cracked the manual and discovered the HU is only compatible with USB 2.0. So now I'm in the process of prioritizing my music and copying my absolute favourite stuff onto as many old 1 and 4 gb thumb drives I can find kicking around my house.

    Rant is this (repeated from my post in the audio section): why would a HU that was redesigned for 2020 (to work with AA and Apple CarPlay) not be compatible with USB 3.0? Or, why is it impossible to find a big USB 2.0 thumb drive any more, let alone one for a reasonable price?

    It's just a speed difference, so I think it would slow the flow from your thumb drive to a speed the HU can handle. I'm not certain, but that would be my guess.

    The internet also says Windows does have the ability to format large drives in FAT32, though it isn't a default option that shows up. Suppose I could try that.
