Any early Tundras get a front axle assembly which didn't have the electric actuation? Maybe the V6 5-speed base...or, something like that?

Nope, all Tundras are ADD actuated.

Tacomas got some mechanical front diffs in the early models, but not the tundras.

I agree with ⬆️. I had a '97 Tacoma where the ADD was vacuum actuated (they used the same front differential) but I think that was the last year before the change to electronic actuators.

Thanks guys. That is what I thought about the Tundra.

Gee, I thought first gen Tacomas were mechanical. The company '99 Tacoma I drive sometimes has factory manual locking hubs and a lever transfer case. I assume the front diff/axle has no vac or electricity going to it.

some early Tacomas were. My '96 was fully mechanical. Looking hubs and a manual case. No vacuum or electronic actuation period. I loved that.

The transfer cases were mechanically engaged, but I'm pretty sure that the early front diffs were vacuum and then electronic. Usually the V6s had the auto front hubs and the I4s had the manual front hubs. I think that the 4Runners started getting electronic push-button 4WD at some point in that generation of body style, they alway got the bells and whistles first.

Edit: ....and reading what the other guys posted makes sense with the manual hubs. Mine had the ADD.

I assume a truck with OEM manual hubs and a manual t-case would not have vac or 12v going to the front diff. Am I wrong? What would be the point?

I can't think of any reason off the top of my head.
