Just thought I'd introduce myself! I've been following along in the various threads for a while now but really got hooked when I found Roman's threads on getting replacement parts, grilles in particular. I'm looking forward to posting images of my newest build as I move along and getting pointers here and there from everyone. My name is Chris and I am based in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. I spend a ton of time off-road and definitely use the truck to get me, the family, and my photography workshop clients in and out of the backcountry safely.

I just picked up the Sunset Mica '16 TRD the last week of May after my 2010 TRD was destroyed by a distracted driver last October. I was rear-ended by the other driver who was doing 75mph. The rest of us were doing about 10mph. She launched me forward about 300 feet into the back of a box truck. Miraculously, everyone was ok. My truck, not so much. I had put so much work into it, it was a major bummer; but now I've got a newer, nicer, and lower mileage version to work with!

The first mod I did was put new LED fog light bulbs in. I will ultimately swap out the entire light with a higher output FOG/Driving light but the bulbs are doing the trick for now. I am currently awaiting my new grille. I am switching over to the color matched surround and TRD Pro grille to cut back on the over-abundance of chrome on the '16's. I am also putting new headlight bulbs in, but I have to remove the bumper and disassemble the front of the truck to do that. So logic said to do the grille and lights at the same time to avoid taking off the bumper multiple times. Following that I plan on throwing in some Bilstein 6112's and 5160's with Old Man Emu 2.8 Leafs and a set of airbags(I had 5100's with the bags and same leafs on the last truck). Finally, I'll add a winch and 35's. I will also probably put another S&B Cold Air Intake in this one too.

If anyone else has any suggestions on mods to the truck, I would love to hear and see them!

Thanks! I'm pretty stoked about it. The old truck had a lot of work into it but this one will be better. I just took it on a 1700 mile photography road trip down into Eastern Idaho and Western Wyoming two days after I bought it. The Wyoming side of the Tetons are incredible!

Thanks! Yeah, luckily it was just me in the truck on the way home. My daughter wasn't even 1 yet. It happened two days before our birthday. It would have been really bad if her and my wife were in there. Luckily I was able to "walk away" with some neck and back issues but otherwise mostly OK. The girl who hit me was pregnant and she walked away too, baby was ok as well. If she had hit me at a degree or two different angle, her engine and transmission would have ended up in her lap instead of the passenger seat. Everyone was lucky that day to put it lightly.

Nice. Yeah, the Tetons are pretty amazing. They are so damn shear that they look like a fake movie prop background.

Thanks! It was bad, but a major testament to the safety of these trucks. The girl who hit me was in a '11 4Runner which is similar sized. Everyone walked away. I'm stoked to build out the new rig!

Haha! Heck yeah! I wasn't sure about the color at first when I saw it online, but when I saw it in person and in the sun I knew it was the one. I bought this one in Montana as well.
