Toyota is conducting a noncompliance recall involving certain Tundra vehicles
    July 15, 2020

PLANO, Texas (July 15, 2020) – Toyota is conducting a noncompliance recall involving certain 2018-2020 Model Year Toyota Tundra vehicles in the United States. Approximately 183,000 vehicles are involved in this recall.

In the subject vehicles, the wire harness connected to the front turn signal bulbs was assembled incorrectly, causing them not to illuminate as brightly as intended. This can cause the subject vehicles not to comply with certain Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard requirements.

For all involved vehicles, Toyota dealers will modify the wire harness connected to the front turn signal bulbs at no cost to customers.

Owners of involved vehicles will be notified by mid-September 2020.

Information about automotive recalls, including but not limited to the list of involved vehicles, is current as of today’s filing date and is subject to change thereafter. To see if your vehicle is involved in a safety recall visit Toyota.com/recall or nhtsa.gov/recalls and enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or license plate information.

For the most up to date information surrounding recalls visit nhtsa.gov/recalls. For any additional questions, customer support is also available by calling the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1-800-331-4331 or the Lexus Guest Experience Center at 1-800-255-3987.

lol put the vin in and it comes back as a 2014 tundra even though its a 2018 tundra.

either im using the wrong vin plate picture (i take phone pics of my vehicles vin door plate)

or something wacky is going on.

never had a tundra prior to the 2018, only had tacoma's truck wise.

going to have to go verify my pics again.

I've got mine scheduled on the 30th. (Yes, I know I can easily do this myself, but truck's already going in for an oil change, so I figured I'll let them do it. Plus, that way they can't blame me if the truck goes *kablooie* somehow. LOL)

I was the one that contacted Toyota Canada and Toyota USA. This was after I did the fix on my 2020 and noticed the difference in brightness.

Wonder if they'll reimburse me the cost of the VLEDs I bought to fix the issue a year ago?

Negatory. They told me they wont perform this recall since I stuck VLEDs in there and it'll stay open.

Since I had leds the dealer did not do the recall for me. So, anyone notice any difference with leds AND correcting the wiring?

Same here. The LED's "fixed" it. They don't hyper-flash either. I've heard that doing the fix will cause the hyper-flash, and then I'd need a resistor.

I'm wondering the same thing. I replaced mine with LED's shortly after owning and realizing this was a problem. Wondering if this update will make my LED's even brighter??

I have a 2019 TRD Sport. I went to the recall search site and put in my VIN. The fuel pump recall appeared but not the blinker light. Are the lights on mine exempt?

Yes, the wire swap made my LEDs brighter. I didn't have hyperflash at first, but then it showed up on the passenger side intermittently. I think the effects are going to depend on what bulbs you used, though. Mine could be used in a dual filament application, some others can't.

That's a bummer... I wonder if since I've already swapped the wires they'll mark me as fixed, or if I'll need to swap bulbs and wiring back beforehand. It'll be a bitch to take the resistors back out since I used taps and probably mangled the wires.

I have a 2020 so I didn't need resistors...Just plugged in new LED bulbs. From what I understand, the 2019-20's don't require the resistor due to the headlights being LED. Fingers crossed, but I may not have an issue with hyper flash if I have the dealer perform. Would certainly welcome even brighter lights!
