Do you have after market coil overs?
That’s one reason I don’t like the Spc arms; they don’t have a grease zerk on the pivot arms.
I had a coil making contact w the shock body, but it took a while to track down, sounded like an old squeaky mattress

Yeah I'm running ICON 2.5's up front. Do other control arms have 2 zerk fittings? Didn't realize that. Maybe I can spray the bushings with some silicone lube?

Yeah if you think that’s where it’s coming from, maybe sway bar bushings too; that are mounted to the frame, maybe even the end links. Total chaos makes a uniball that has zerks to grease the thru bolt bushings. We have them on the 4runner, for the most part they are always quite until the uniballs need some triflow

 

Is that a stamped concrete driveway?

Yeah. I did a Hand Model Job for a concrete company. My Hand was the client signing his life away on the contract buying the stamped drive. Got a 50% discount and still overpaid.

I was one of the first in my area to have one when they first came out. Always had people driving by and oooing for the first few years. Its been a nice driveway and cleans up well due to the sealant I put on it every 4 years.

 

Stupid low pressure switch on that ice machine i was working on the other night, shit the bed. Seems to be common on these units, but then it also takes out the contactor(coil) because it just sits there chattering because the LP control won’t make or break properly. Didn’t loose any freon which is good, and didn’t have to open the system to put on another!

 

Our backyard is all stamped concrete... looks amazing.

 

And yes. Those are steel I beams for the deck. The whole deck is steel floor joists. Just like the house.

 

That plastic wouldn't last 1 hour on those chairs if it were my house. I'd be outside every evening.

 

How often should they be changed? Is there a list of preventative maintenance items and how often they should be changed based on mileage? Obviously the manufacturer will recommend sooner than reality so they can sell more parts! I would think iridium plugs last 400k miles and the coils?

 

Not sure exactly when they should be changed, but I had one go bad so I replaced all of them. Half were all cracked longitudinally which leads to a condition of the spark crossing via the spark plug tube and messing with ignition.

There is a resistance test you can perform via the FSM.

Iridium Plugs last 100k miles per Denso. I have two sets of the Manual Spec basic copper core plugs from NGK. I swap them out with each other about 4-5k miles just to keep an eye on the engine health. I’ve also noted the plugs like to loosen over time but maybe because I don’t have a torque wrench although I do follow the Hand Model Sign Language on the side of the plug box. Swapping them and cleaning them gives me something to do.

 

Toying with the thought of getting those GX460 calipers from that guy. Someone talk me out of it. They aren't cheap.

The only downside I can come up with is that I'll have to reactive my Facebook to order them.

Do not do it. Do WL13 and roll the extra money into something else like rebuilding your rear drums (cheap) and some other extras you can figure as you go.

The last time I looked that kit was almost as expensive as the GX460 deal so I thought I may as well go all out.

 

Got off there 7 years ago and never looked back.

WL13 Front and Rear brakes with about 2 days of work less than $500 total with all new brake lines.

Last I remember those Big Boy Calipers and all the extras were $1000-1500? Needs New Booster and Cylinder? Cool if you can afford it and want it, but @ FirstGenVol still doesn’t have Big Gurrl Prime because he is too cheap to pay the extra .

 

It's $350 plus shipping for the calipers. Rotors and pads I would have to buy regardless. No need to replace booster or master cylinder. Maybe you're thinking of something else?

The power stop kit was fine but that was before the armor, tires and rack/tent. Last trail run on the long technical downhill, my front brakes were overheating. I only plan to add more weight so the bigger brakes will definitely help. Will probably stick with the oem rotors too.

 

I may screw it and try 2nd gen tacoma wilwood brakes eventually.

Let's back up a minute here and discuss this "squeaky" SPC UCA.

If that is in fact the culprit of the squeak what are all of your thoughts on having a machine shop drill, and tap to add 2 grease zerks on the pivot point for UCA bolt?

I have plans for spc/mevotech ucas in the future.

id have to see how the SPC bushings are made. the cambergs have fittings there. to grease the bushings you loosen the upper control arm bolt, grease, then retorque NEVER do it with the bolt torqued or your bushings will be fried.
