Driving home from Montana last night my tundra took a hen pheasant to the grill... missed the c4 bumper and bull bar by a few inches, total bummer. With a new baby on the way a new grill is out of the question right now. Luckily the TSS sensor and cruise control still work just fine which is shocking since the bird hit it dead on at 70mph.

anyone ever fixed a plastic grill? Thinking a little JB plasticweld on the back side and a thin coat on the outside might do the trick?

Wow! Sorry to hear. There is a black plastic epoxy that works great. Walmart sells it. It comes in the dual tube syringe-like applicator, you mix the 2 parts together

Sorry to hear this and congrats on the new baby! My wife hit a deer and insurance covered all damage (over $2K) as part of our comprehensive coverage - the deductible was a lot less than it would have been for a collision. You might want to check with your insurance company.

I'd turn it in as a comp claim so they can replace the grill, maybe sensor cover, and recalibrate the sensor under the comp claim. Rather be safe than sorry given the sensor cover is nearly as much as the grill.

I actually bought my insert cracked (got a deal on it). I used JB weld and it has held up great. Even through some super rough off-roading.

Fucking pheasants! I hit one with my Dodge last year here in MT.

Looks like your bull bar took the majority of the impact. You're extremely lucky TSS hasn't thrown an error at you, those sensors are fucking expensive and the calibration makes it even worse.

I only read your title and totally ignored your actual post.

I'm sorry to inform you that I don't think you're going to be able to repair that bird. It's a goner.

So called my insurance company and I have no fault comp coverage that wont effect my rate. A few photos on the allstate app and 20 minutes later had a direct deposit for a new trd pro grill (back ordered for god knows how long), new bulge, new sensor, new sensor cover. All state has been amazing... in the past 5 years I have smoked a deer (100% covered), had a boat catch on fire- they paid it out fast and were super easy to deal with, and our hot water heater blew and they covered a big chunk of a full kitchen remodel.

That is awesome. Hell you should keep hunting with your truck. Sounds like you have been very successful! Glad you are getting repaired. Driving with a busted up grill would not be good for my OCD.
