That 900 doc fee is wow. My Tundra doc fee was 200. My Camaro was 120 which I was surprised. My wife got hosed on our civic with viin etch for 200 bucks and a 600 doc fee. My first advice if you do this get a better value on trade and don't pay that stupid high Doc fee.

Well...I’m running a 3” lift and have 34.5” E rated mud terrains. I’ve seen my mpg as low as 9.8. Highway is usually 13ish.

So after asking if I would do the deal.if they can get 14K, he texted yesterday morning and said his boss was working on it. After about 9 hrs just to see what he says, I texted and said "it's a no-go I assume?". He replied and asked if I could bring it in. I said no I'm in my son's martial arts class, and it would be worth more to keep it and I'd be better off trying to get a better payment. Then he says " I will revisit it tomm". :notsure:

Dang man, it sounds like they are really wanting to move some of the new inventory, and they know they could resell yours quickly!!! My 08 has the 4.7L and is plenty for what I need. Having the 5.7L would be nice though. My truck has almost 160k miles on it and I will likely keep it when the time comes financially to get something else, as that's still a few years away and will be at least 15 years old and have 200k miles on it. If I'm not having any issues out of it, I'm going to keep on rolling with it!

So I went off on the dealer today. They were dragging their feet and wouldn't give me a straight answer. A manager called me and said he couldn't bump the trade 2K above book from 12 to 14K and then have me take stuff off of it. I told him 12k is not book, and that his salesman didnt give him correct info regarding removing the lift and stuff from the truck. I got in the salesman's rear end too. So if I really wanted the 5.7 my option would be to pay mine off, keep it, (or sell it) and put a down payment on one.

Dealer was texting me again asking about 12K for trade on mine. For giggles, I did the sell feature on Carvana and it was 16,203 for selling and 17,117 for trade. I sent him a screenshot of it. :stirthepot:That should be an interesting reply in the morning.....or motivation to try and sell a truck. I still don't know about a 3 inch lift and 34's bringing it down to 11 mpgs.

It's fun toying with them now. Another dealer was texting yesterday and I told him pymts would be over 600 so he started with "how much would you be willing to put down"? I replied with "This message has been auto-blocked by Verizon Wireless". Haven't heard a peep since. Lol.

Never back down. When i made a cash offer on the spot for the truck i wanted, the salesmen treated us like we were wasting his valuable time and made a complete fool of himself. After a strongly worded E-Mail i sent the next day about the way we were treated, we got a call from the sales manager himself. He apologized for the conduct of his salesman, and accepted my cash offer. I myself worked as a tech at a dealership for over 15 years and know their mindset. All i can say is never let them bully you, in the end you are the one in charge, never let them forget that.

Yep...I agree. That's why I am still in my truck after 5 weeks of looking. I told 2 different dealers they weren't getting mine for 12 to 14K.

Dude, i traded my 4.6 in for a 5.7 truck. Stupidest decision, the 4.6 was fine, all i did was cost myself more money. I wish i still had my 4.6

4.88 gears exist now for the 4.6, those will help a ton if you run heavy tires.

I'm only running 34's and the travel trailer that we just bought has a dry weight of ~3800 pounds. The power of the 5.7 would be nice, but the mpgs would suck. Maybe I could see what a set of headers would do.

Seems to me you’re looking for a reason to get the new truck. If that’s the case and you can afford it, get it man. But I can tell you this - if i had the opportunity to be free and clear of a tundra with less than 100k miles and no problems i would do it in a heartbeat. Bank the money that you would be paying every month and before you know it you’ll have a healthy down payment to go along with your trade whenever you decide to upgrade. I would keep your current truck and rest easy with no payments

I can’t believe you’ve been messing around with the dealer for over 3 weeks?! That’s nuts. I hate dealing with car dealers. Once I get to a point where I know what I want it’s short and sweet: either they can get me the deal I want or not and move on. It’s my money and not theirs.

I have to believe you’re just effing with them for fun?

My old 07 Chevy 1500 with the 5.3 was rated at like 315 HP an at the time I felt like it had loads of power. Now a days with factory Diesel's putting down over 400+hp an 1000ft pounds of torque it sure does make it feel like 300 ish HP/trq is not enough.. But as many others have said I don't think it's worth trading up just for the 5.7. In reality the 5.7 is nothing special compared to other half tons In terms of power #.. Still no slouch but IMO you have a nice truck, is it worth 600$ a month payments for years for like 70 HP an touque? .. I'd say give it a few years an see what Toyota does next...

If I were going to upgrade - I’d upgrade to a 3/4-1 ton, Diesel, full crew cab and 8’ bed! Now that’s an upgrade!
