Hey everyone, wondering if anyone here has installed the RCI tonneau adapters? Been putting mine on, and they definitely don’t seem to work with my RCI rack. First I had to cut the hardware on my bed rack to allow the adapter to sit flush to the bottom of the rack, without the whole weight of the rack being on the 6 bolts piecing both pieces of hardware together.. then as I am ready to install, the lip fully extends much further than the edges of my truck bed, making it useless.. what did I miss?

@TG705 good thing we didn’t try for this the other day!

You need to widen the rack. Have you maxed out the rack width adjustment?

Dang , I thought their racks were all adjustable. Something definitely weird. You do have the correct rack? The RCI racks I've seen made for the 2nd/3rd Gen Tundras were width adjustable.

Those are only compatible with the adjustable bed racks according to RCI's web site

    https://rcimetalworks.com/product/bed-rack-tonneau-adapters/

edit: think RCI change their design this year. All previous racks were non adjustable before with the tundra. Mine that I bought a few years ago is not adjustable.

Yeah, I think those can be used on bed rails too with additional hardware, I just never seen a RCI rack that's not width adjustable.....

well serves me right! Not sure how I missed this. Just figured it would work... looks like I am going to be doing more custom work then.. I have too nice of a Pace Edwards retractable tonneau to not use it.. I will just cut these tabs off and then just come from underneath I think.. anyone think that’s a bad idea?

The instructions say you can use the holes on top of the mount to bolt them to the bed. I'd do that if they work with your cover instead of mounting them to the bed rail.

Yeah, just drill thru the rail. Easy enough and you'll be able to use your retractable tonneau.

perfect! This is exactly what I am thinking, at least after I cut off the tabs that are over extended.

Little concerned about not having at least some kind of bolt coming through the bottom, but still thinking about this too

Agreed, not too big of a deal, and only needs some more trimming. I am glad I confirmed this is needed before I jumped the gun, which is typically how I like to work.

thank you @Black Wolf and @GiantsFanDan! I will post back with the final product.. I may be able to get to it today, but will probably be a tomorrow thing at this point

Buy a rivnut tool Instead of drilling through. It’ll be plenty secure

Well I got everything cut and into place today.. good news it works, but running out of steam to get it bolted to the bedsides.. have the tonneau cover clamping it in place for now and barely moves... will bolt it into place next weekend.

Is this your build, or from the product website? If it's yours, how secure does the rack feel with the adapters? I have the X4 and I'm a bit concerned it won't be secure enough when loading the rack down with 200lbs+. Doesn't look like it's bolted to the bed rail here

Got 4 bedside bolts in today. Didn’t see the need for the two closest to the cab as my tonneau cover box sits completely on top of them.

I don’t think these are going anywhere now!

Since I already had the tools out there, got my new rear chase lights put in and my new stubby radio antenna mounted.. will hopefully finish the wiring for both tomorrow.
