What Running boards/nerf bars/sliders are you using?

Well the lady noted that running boards the passenger side of the truck are getting rusty and haggard so its time for some replacements. Had I known there were so cheap, I might have replaced them sooner. I am curious to see what others are running and the pros/cons of them. I'd prefer to stay around $200 and 4"-6". I usually step on a nearby Prius. They have that swooping wedge shape, makes it easy like a handicap ramp.

Black truck is very nice! If you have to get running boards, I’m not a fan of them personally, but I like #1 If you put a gun to my head. Looks mean.

 

You can pick up some OEM Style from a junkyard. Bought a set for $125 shipped. Make sure the set comes with all the bracketry because each one cost about $50.

You have Access Cab so those DC ones in your first pic may not fit. Here is a pic of the ones on mine. Light and strong. They are not bulky ones that get in the way if you don’t need them.

 

I like running boards and I don’t. The first picture just shows them on a DC but make you select AC.

I like #1 but that black truck just looks damn sweet.

 

#1 looks the best. They do look like they project out far in the pic, but its hard to tell. If you don’t use them to exit they may get in the way. Just depends on what your use is.

I wanted some on my truck when I bought new. They wanted $900 in typical Stealer Up Sell fashion so I said forget about it.

I don’t need them, but others in my life do. I like these because they are made for Tundra specific and have nice curves. They fit tight on the body which is important to me. Plus, they are super light to strength ratio.

The running boards with the big gap between body and step are a deal breaker IMO. Most of the members ‘Rock sliders’ on this forum look nice and some are fugly. The thing about those is the extra weight added is a deal breaker, as well. Gotta keep her light because I have 40 less HP.

 

I got these ones. Love them and it’s tough to beat the price!

I have the same ones as PHM, for the same HP, weight reasons.

 

Looks nice @Tundra2 these Toy Running Board sit up tight to the body, too. Just in case we decide to ‘Rock Climb’ they won’t get in the way. They won’t protect either. These others look like they are pretty low. Straight side view on some of these looks bulky.

Been waiting to bust out a new Spec Discovery on 00-02 versus 03. The 00-02 has 5 more HP!

 

I really like them. They are super sweet. If only I could remember where I first saw OEM running boards on a Silver Acess cab Tundra...

5” iBoard, I love ‘em. Hardly notice they’re there, look kinda like the AMP boards when they’re extended.

I didn’t use the middle bracket bc it was too bulky looking and really made you look to see running boards were on there. They’re perfectly stable, no bending or curving - very sturdy.

And to add, I pushed them forward, they slide towards the front or rear before you tighten them up, and really like the extra space to stand on top and wipe the front of the roof and windshield.

I also like that they’re full length boards Versus just hoop steps. I‘ve had NFab’s and Predator style boards before and making your foot land in the hoop was annoying after a while, to me, and sometimes awkward if i was carrying stuff. With these, you just step out wherever.

Always felt like you see the boards more with hoops hanging down versus a clean line with the board tucked near the cab.

 

O.G. goodness here. When I first got the truck, I was thinking long and hard about trying to source the OEM style chrome tubes for access cabs if they exist, but this style has kinda grown on me. Not super-functional from a protection standpoint but they're sturdy and don't look out of place.

Of the 2 you listed, I prefer the 1st ones. Nice and tight baby!

Nice, but I would prefer cab length boards / steps like the ones on my 2007.

 

Tha black truck looks killer, that's what I wanted money to look like when I first got it.

The #1 option looks best to me, you don't want them hanging out too far. Not just for clearance but I think it looks put of place to see a big squared off bar. #1 has a nice shape.

 

Post some pics, let’s see how they look! I didn’t even think to look on Amazon.


Great ideas. As PHM mentioned, I rarely use them but they do come in handy for others. I plan on putting some sort of lift on it before winter so I’m sure I’ll appreciate them even more.

I have the shiny 3" chrome nerf bars from wildcat flash. look nice with the chrome wheels. Other than the extra time polishing them when washing, i like them. thinking about plasti dipping them.
