    Word of the day:

    Choo Choo.
If you take away my Toyota Trucks, I'll want to choo choo.:quickdraw:

Seriously though, I wouldn't consider buying one of the "disposable big three". If I ever had the need for heavy hauling beyond the 1/2 ton capability of a Tundra, I'd be into the medium duty commercial market. Until then if ever, this Tundra, or even another Tacoma down the road, will suit me just fine. I don't buy new, I buy good used (newest I've bought was the Taco at 4 years old), maintain them well, and keep them a long time. I spent less than $600 per year on the Taco aside from fuel and insurance, and used it fairly hard for 6 1/2 years, that's pretty low cost of ownership after the initial higher investment. Maybe I'm chugging the cool-aid, but the flavour is good and I like it.

Oh, and what's the difference between a Ford and Forrest Gump?

For what it's worth.......Toyota never never categorized the Tundra as a 1/2 ton. What "big three" has a 10.5" ring gear in their 1/2 tons.? The new NISSAN has a 13" ring. For what it's worth..ring size doesn't mean much. Size doesn't really matter. Oh wait...

Before I bought my Tundra, I test drove a gmc 1500 and a f-150. The 1500 was ok but way to much chrome. I wasn't impressed with the ford one bit. Salesman kept saying all aluminum body doesn't rust. I asked him if he has ever seen aluminum corriode.

I have driven all of those trucks. I like the F-150 the best.

When I first saw the Nissan Titan, I thought it was the most god awful looking truck I had seen in a while, if ever.

A local guy just bought a quad cab white one and its realllllly growing on me.

Exactly....Anyone who has worked around aircraft (lots of aluminum parts) knows that corrosion control is 24/7.

Seriously though I'm surprised the Titan got any votes lol. That thing is fugly! Even if you parked it next to a bunch of mid '00s Rams and Honda Ridgelines it would still be ugly (ugly friend effect)

To me it looks like Nissan slapped an American style front grill on but left the rest of the styling rounded like the old Titan and the tundra

Was going to add a item to the poll saying none because i wouldn't ever get anything other than a Tundra. But decided that would throw off the poll. We are looking for the 2nd best. Obviously nothing is better than the Tundra. So yea i ended up choosing Ford, not that i would own it but i think it is a great option for alot of people.

My buddy has a 16 Ford in Lariat trim. Nice interior, good looking exterior, rides well. Averaging 18 mpg on a 4x4 crew cab. Don't know how reliable it will be in the long haul.
Given that the "big 3" options are all suspect on reliability, I'd take the Ford as second place based on the aforementioned good points.

I like to see how a 3-5 year study does.

Here is how the Tundra stacked up. Notice #2 in the half ton ratings.

My grandfather had an old Chevy just like that, a Custom Deluxe I believe. I would love to restore one, in my mind that look/body style is a classic that will never look bad.

I don't know if I could get myself to by a new chevy half ton. I would consider a new 4x4 2500 or 3500. Or just go back to driving the chevy square body trucks I still have a couple of those. This was my toy. Now that the boy is old enough it is his daily driver 20151129_131336.jpg

Had several square bodies....the only thing I did to them was swap the early 700r4 tranny for a 350 turbo. Yes it sucked to drive on the highway.

Maybe not, or maybe. The GVWR ratings put the Tundra in the 1/2 ton class. I do think they are rated more conservatively than some of the competition. I'd consider the 2nd/3rd gen tundra to be a "heavy half" in real world capability in my experiences with it so far. That said, overloading a truck beyond GVWR is both illegal and risky.

Guy who did my bedliner, he showed me a picture he took of an aluminum wheel after several winters. The wheel was covered in corrosion. I just hope the tundra doesn't go to all aluminum body. Some of the new trucks are being built like a car would be.

No maybe or no maybe not.......Toyota never ever rated the Tundra by 1/2, 3/4 ton. etc......Anything else is pure speculation unless you know something we don't know already or Toyota . That's what risky... Just sayin...............
