We don’t have one for Scotch, yet. Now we do :D

I’m new to the Scotch game, but have increasingly liked it over the last week or so.

Last night, I tried these and loved both of them. Great flavor, and very smooth.

I already have Glenfiddich in the house, and just grabbed a bottle of Monkey shoulder to try.

I picked up one of those Laphroaig 10 years at Costco. It’s good but a bit too smokey for me.

I'm a big fan of Lagavulin 16 year, Macallan, Dailuaine

But any good scotch is a win in my book.

I'm almost out of Lagavulin and it's hard to get around here so I just picked up some Glenmorangie and, though it's not scotch, and Irish whiskey called Quiet Man. I literally just poured a dram and haven't yet tasted it.

Update. Quiet Man is great. It's also relatively cheap. Highly recommended.

Laphroaig, Ardbeg and Bowmore are among my favourites. Dalmore too but it tends to be out of my price range. Right now all I have is Big Peat and Peatey Monster, though. Once I finish those, I'll pick up something else.

If you like smokey you would love Lagavulin. It's also pretty inexpensive.

It's interesting because I'll share it with people who don't like scotch, and mostly they still hate it, but even then admit that it's incredibly smooth. So it's smokey, like straight campfire smoke, but it's not harsh and doesn't have that alcohol burn at all. It's fantastic if you like the flavor.

My wife doesn't drink much hard liquor but she likes the scotches that taste like a campfire. So much for the booze budget...

assuming that we're talking about 'reasonably priced'...

my favorite is The Glenlivet 15 yr French Oak Reserve Single Malt (~$65 / 750 ml); in fact, i even prefer this over the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Blended (~$200 / 750 ml)

i did just have a great steak dinner at a place near downtown (houston) that had several scotches ranging from $2k - $4k; this was PER DRINK.

no The Glenlivet on the shelf, so i had 2 drinks of The Balvenie 15 yr @ $25 / drink. much more inline w/ my earning capabilities.

LOVE a good scotch whiskey w/ a medium rare bone-in ribeye! and, don't forget to serve the lobster mashed potatoes on the side.

Johnnie Walker Green Label is fantastic (check my activity in the bourbon thread for booze credentials). Also a big fan of Bruichladdich Port Charlotte 10. For something sweet and spicy I really like Macallan Classic Cut too.

Glenlivet Founders Reserve is amazing for the price, but hands down the best I have ever had is a Macallan 18.

Lagavulin 16 is another good one. Bought one of these for my friend but I’d say it’s not as smokey as the Laphroaig.

Not considered “scotch” but lately I’ve enjoyed this.

Glenlivet and Bowmore are my favorites. All years and bottles have been good. Not a peaty fan so these are balanced IMO.
