Big SAG in Rear After hooking Travel Trailer

I tried to find this subject conversation but could locate it. I purchased a 2017 Tundra SR5, TRD Pro. I noticed that it was not level when connecting my travel trailer. SAG in the rear, Would Tembrems/Sumo Springs work at leveling or should I have air bags installed? I did not have this issue with my 2007 Tundra SR5.

 

What size trailer and are you using a weight distribution hitch?

 

I am towing a 28 ft. gross weight 7600 lbs. Though never near that weight. I never travel with my tanks empty. I use a Husky weight distribution system.

 

The Pro has no rake like the SR5 did due to the lift/level in the front.
I'm not a huge fan of using airbags on a WDH but if you're not willing to do shackles in the rear to add a little rake, then bags would be the way to go. Make sure that the WDH is calibrated and adjusted for ride height with the bags inflated. Measure your ride height once inflated and always air up to that. You won't be able to use PSI as a gauge due to different loads.

The degree or amount at which the ass sits higher than the front. Your Pro is level. Your SR5 sat about 2.5 inches higher in the rear than it did the front.

Yea man, the PRO's sit WAY too level for my taste. Fixed mine by installing +1.5" shackles, DONE. Now it has the perfect amount of rake, and sits almost level when towing. Shackles are the way to go, in my opinion. Rides same as before, smooth as silk.

 

You probably need to check the set up on your WDH. A good WDH will neutralize any sag by transferring tongue weight to the front axle. Sounds like yours isn't doing anything. Measure the height of the rear bumper or rear wheel openings. Your objective should be no change in height.

You should also determine your actual tongue weight with the RV loaded as you use it; how the trailer is loaded can drastically affect the tongue weight.

 

I've never heard of an SR5 Trd Pro.

 

Never mind, I looked at your pic. You do not have a Trd Pro therefore do not have the Pro suspension that is softer. Your truck should also have the standard rake.

Regardless, 7600# is pretty damn heavy but it comes down to tongue weight.

I hate to break it to you but it is a SR5 with the TRD Pro package. The sales paper say it, the side of the truck it has both SR5 and TRD emblem.

 

It is a SR5 with a TRD Pro it is on the original manifest and also the dealership sales paperwork. There is a SR5 and TRD Badge. I usually am in the 6600 lbs range when I tow my trailer. It is 5600 lbs dry weight.

 

OP is right, the TRD Pro is just a dressed up SR5.

 

If you don’t have the “TRD PRO” stamped into the sides of the bed, you don’t have a Pro. I don’t care what your ‘sales paper’ says.

 

I think he is in Canada and trim options may be different north of the border.

 

What he means to say is you have the trd package. A PRO is not a package you can add, it is the trim of the truck

 

I see what you're saying. I checked out the Canadian Toyota site. Still though, adding the TRD Pro completely dresses the tundra like the PRO we see here in the states, FOX shocks and all. Clearly OP does not have that option.

 

I should have looked at the pic. Looks like he has a TRD off road. In that case, unless the front end is leveled you should have some rake. If it's sagging a lot without a level up front, I'd check the setup of the WDH. You may not have the right torsion bars or tension in them for your setup.

+1 on checking the WDH, shouldn't have too much sag issues with that weight if its properly distributed

Pro's don't have an "emblem" or a sticker. They have TRD PRO stamped in the steel on the side of the bed. They also don't have any chrome.

 

So what interior features does it have that you can't get on other SR5 trims?

 

TRD PRO leather interior and emblems.

A trd pro is not a "dressed up" SR5 no more than a Platinum is a dressed up SR5.

Sorry, but that screenshot you have is misleading. TRD PRO is not an add on package much like 1794 isn't an add on package. Completely different truck made in limited numbers.

Primary reason I chimed in is bc the Pro has a different suspension that the SR5. It's softer and has more articulation, and have a near zero rake, both of which makes it squat more when towing.
