The tune packs are the off the shelf tunes they have made. I have the Tacoma one.

the vf software only has the stock tunes and you start from scratch. The tune packs you can open in vf and use them as a starting point.

I just modified my Tacoma one to boost the charging voltage for my agm battery

Ok. So are the gear lock and other features only in the tune pack? Since it's not a stock function.

I don’t believe @OVTune has detailed the Tundra tuning options yet with vf tuner. He’s mentioned with the Tacoma releasing example tunes that you can then use to build into your tune. Then you can basically see what’s changed and add it in to create a tune that works best for you

Stock O2 sensors will read as rich as approximately 11.8 which is generally a good, safe AFR number for boosted engines on pump gas. So while they won't tell you if you're richer than that they will verify that you're at least getting a safe amount fuel. For someone selling tunes "safe" should be priority #1 and if the customer doesn't have an aftermarket wideband installed to give data beyond the stock sensors limits then safe is gonna have to be good enough

So you're saying that I am getting accurate readings as long as they're above 11.8?

My Kenwood Headunit displays ~11.5 AFR at WOT. My priority is safe and reliable versus max power potential so it sounds like it is safe.

14.7 is stoich. Higher that that is lean (IE 15, 16, 17 etc). Lower than that is rich (IE 14, 13, 12, etc). If you're in the 11's then your rich. If the sensors only read to 11.8, if you're at 10 (rich) it will still read 11.8 (from what folks are saying). If you're at 11.5 @ WOT, I'd wager that you're GTG.

Well it's a little more complex than that because the AFR is actually a calculated number based off of the data output by oxygen sensors and there are several other variables that will also affect the displayed AFR somewhat so there is some variance in the limits different people will see. All that said, yes the data is accurate down to that limit so sounds like you're good to go there.

    Mat,

With a 2018 is it possible to have gear locking when the tow haul button is on and in manual, and when the tow haul button is not on and in manual you can do that other thing (forgot the name, but where you hold the shifter and it goes into the lowest gear possible (direct shift?)). I'm thinking when I'm towing I would need the gear lock, but when driving around town I wouldn't.

    Just wondering.

At this time gear locking is not available and is being developed for the 2018’s. That is what I was told and it was posted here

Mat, what's your feeling about the tune being completed by your estimate of the end of July? It's coming up pretty quick, so just shoot us straight. You know we all have our hopes up!

I have gear locking on my 2018. I'm wondering if code can be written to have it work ONLY when the tow haul button is on as opposed to when it is off as well (and in manual shift mode).

I had a tune where GL was active via T/H only, S-Mode didn't affect it. I think that's the ultimate game plan.

I hope that's the case. I just don't see the need to have it during both on and off w/ T/H.

In my 16 I definitely had no gear lock when T/H and Drive. (Verified with obd2 scanner and watching the current gear)

    T/H and Sport would lock
T/H and Drive would down shift
No T/H and Sport would down shift
No T/H and Drive would down shift

I figured towing you could either leave in D for regular OEM style towing, or go to S and manually move and stay locked there if you want more control.

Hell, it's not available for 2013s yet either! Unless you have a supercharger. For some reason those are complete.

Your logs have been received and updates will be posted. July is Tundra time for us.

Also the original implementation of gear lock (by tow haul button) works for any year.
The confusion I think is that gearlock was CHANGED from that version to default when in s mode (not tow haul button). THAT version is being prepared for all ecus this month.
    hopefully that makes sense

When this version comes out, will simply shifting into S also lock the torque converter?

I know how it worked on my tune before the most recent. When it's released after the next go around, I'll figure out how it works then, whether same or different.

Adapt and move forward. Or just punch it and really move! :burnrubber:

I just received my tune via .vft file and unlocked in the software. I'm not a tuner by any means, but I did have UpRev tuning for my older Titan, and have played around with WinOLS and VAGEDCSUITE for my now sold ALH.

I was hoping there would be the implementation of selecting items that I want to turn off or on, or adjusting tire size. I see that shellshock was able to adjust the charging voltage for his AGM battery, and yet I'm unable to find that with the software.

Or maybe this is not fully implemented yet and I need to STFU. At this point though, this image is what I look like.

I did the charging voltage for my Tacoma. I’ve not looked at the tundra, I don’t know if there’s alternator controls in there or not.

You're the only one that I'm aware of who has received a .vft file for their Tundra. The only one that I've read mentioning it. I think that adding things like (GL, Direct Shift) may be a function of the Tune Packs, which have not been released as yet. I've not read that the alternators on the Tundras have a similar ability like the Tacomas, as @shellshock mentioned.
