Picked up some plants. Trying to turn my back yard into Hawaii, this is phase one. After these establish I'll add another offset row of plants and filler plants, then decorative rocks as a border to the grass.

I don't leave the house through the garage. Neither does the girlfriend. We are usually both parked in the driveway and just walk out the front door, so the switch being in the garage makes it pointless to use the lights.

I wish my queen wanted to go this design on our covered patio project. We would be money ahead going this route.

HD only had Glacier Bay, and in this model only for a 1-piece toilet. ($160!) Just letting the caulking dry now. It looks great! Many like the push buttons, but I don’t. I usually kick the lever with my foot to flush lol. Oh well, it’s the kids / guest restroom.
Thanks for the recommendation @JMB and @Squatting Pigeon

I don’t know about you but I dislike caulking the bottoms. If you have a leak you want to know about it and by caulking up the bottom you don’t know until it’s very late in the game.

I left the back portion without it ;-)
This way if there is a leak, the water can escape and it’ll be noticed.

Finished off my little deck project right before the storms moved in. Think it turned out pretty nice, now time for a nice cold reward.

Installed some towel racks in both bathrooms. Replaced a light switch in the garage with one I took out of the master bathroom. Then spent four hours weeding the backyard. Filled three trash cans with weeds. The weeds has some thick deep roots. Had to use a shovel to get most of them out. Then sprayed some Spectracide Weed Stop on what was left of the yard.

Here is what the yard is looking like now. Planted 19 plants, relocated 3 plants, and still have 4 plants left to place. Only hit one sprinkler line and was pissed to find it's that thin wall shit, I exposed the area and will fix that section tomorrow after work. Sprinklers off for now.

I learned that myy puppy is afraid of the black plastic pots, so they're being used as defense for a few delicate plants temporarily. Also using a few slices of palm tree to guard a new plumeria.

Un-painted DYI, in the home depot gas piping section. Did something similar for a ladder and handle for the kids hideout.

I’m working on a lifting overhead garage storage shelf that I plan to put the snow blower on... well probably trade off with the lawn mower based on Season.

Just a suggestion for some additional storage over your garage doors if you need it. Do a search for “overhead garage storage”. I’ve done this for several projects and it’s amazing how much you gain in storage space!

Already did that, just not over the door. Wanted to double stack and didn’t have that height. I do have a shelf over the single car garage door that has a higher ceiling

Just played around in the backyard today. There's a small concrete ramp that leads to the door of the shed. About 2 feet long and only raises up about 6 inches. It was bordered with some termite eaten and rotted out 2x4. This yard also had some grapevines, which I took out the other day, that were bordered with some decorative brick.

    Like this:
    upload_2020-6-29_19-55-30.jpg

So I repurposed two of them and bordered the ramp with them. Quick fix, not looking for it to last forever, but it'll last longer than the wood that was there. And it was free.

Now another issue I have dug up, literally, is that under one of the old grapevines I removed is a bunch of buried bricks. I pulled some smaller bits like the one above out and a couple of regular full size bricks (4x2x8). I don't know what they were there for. They weren't stacked on each other, it just looks like they were there to fill space in a hole. Did the previous owner just bury rubble? Two other things I found in different spots were an old rib bone and some rusted solid needle nose pliers.

Now as much as I want to dig them all up, I don't want my backyard looking like a mortar range. Anyone else ever have a similar issue?

That’s cool. I have a ladder to the garage attic (over two spaces) but yea not planning to hike things up and down that.
