Which style trd pro grill did you put on? 17 or 19+? 17 needs relocation bracket to work. Oem grill?

Correct, the TSS sensors do not recalibrate by themselves. They are already calibrated and it does get tricky sometimes if you switch out grills and what not because it’s calibrated to the exact angle, even the slightest change in degree can make it throw error codes.

I bought a Toyota OE grille for 2017-2019. They said no problem with it fitting the 2020 as well.

Looks great! Now you just need to do the full chrome delete on the bumper caps

I would highly suggest unplugging the battery before unplugging the radar sensor. I ended up with a PCS error that I could not clear by disconnecting the battery. Even after swapping back to the stock grill. I put the pro grill on with the aftermarket sensor cover and used Techstream to reset the PCS error code and it all works fine now. I feel that if I had disconnected the battery first then swap to the pro grill, I wouldn't have had the PCS error.

I tested mine right after I installed the grill and it worked I don’t drive the tundra that often how soon did you get error code?

Mine popped up as soon as I started it. After a bunch of messing around I was able to reset the error code using Techstream and it worked fine. Only thing I could think of was that I didn't disconnect the battery?

What’s the best deal on painted bumper caps I don’t think I’ll be able to get white powder coating to match at all, most guys that try to power coat white usually end up buying painted bumper caps.

I respectfully disagree with this statement. There are huge swings in front end angle with various loads in the bed or trailer weight. I’m sure it’s designed for some variance and doesn’t need to be an “exact” angle. I know some people have run into issues with leveling kits, but most have been fine.

From my own experience of fixing my TSS, it took 1/8th inch of an angle to correct the issue. But hey, if you still don't believe me, that's exactly what the Toyota technician said at the dealership and "the TSS is like an eyeball and every angle and position matters." And if you still don't believe me, we can agree to disagree. At the end of the day, Tundras rock!

What is 1/8" of an angle? Are you talking angular measurement, degrees? Inches is a linear measurement....?

Angular measurement. Don't know the exact level of degree change from my 1/8th inch addition, nor do I want to try to figure that out hah....

I used Ares Custom. It worked great for my application.

Your experiences are indeed interesting. I run the Jomax bracket, I’ve leveled 2.5” up front and no issues. I also note that when I haul heavy loads and the truck squats a good bit (meaning the front raises even higher) no issues.

There must be quite a bit of variability in the sensor where some stay in the range and others are outside the range of the sensor “sight angle”.

Honestly the TSS is such a complex system...some people have issues with a leveling kit, some don't. I can see why lots of people wish the truck didnt have that system. The difference in angle made my TSS operable again and im just glad its working. Basically my TSS was tilted in a position like this / and 1/8th inch made it like | and now it works.

You used an ares custom bracket for the TSS? Doesnt the 19+ trd pro grill just have the slot for the TSS ?

There used to be a time when automobile drivers were actually responsible for the safety of themselves, their passengers and other motorists and pedestrians instead of relegating that to a fancy computer system.

Yes, I swapped my out my 2020 SR5 grill for a Pro grill. I used the the Ares Custom to mount/cover the TSS in to the slot.

I did my wheels and suspension upgrade during the first couple of weeks after purchase and never had issues with TSS related to the angle, lift, +/- rake.

I ended up doing the same to mine after I was unsuccessful with the eBay knock off. Only difference is I used the same hardware from my second gen ARES garnish and added a vinyl decal to mimic the stock garnish

I had my chrome bumpers powder coated and happy with the outcome. $325 all four corners not including my time . Probably the cheapest route is to Plasti-Dip. A wrap would be cheap as well, but neither of those was appealing to me because of durability questions. I looked at the Toyota plastic covers that are color matched. But twice as much as powder coating. Two local paint shops discouraged painting over the chrome. I respect the opinion of a shop refusing my money. Fortunately, you have several options. I don't know why Toyota doesn't color match all bumpers and list the chrome as an option.

Telemark did they strip the chrome? My local shop said he’d powder coat my bumper ends for like$150 but he’s not stripping chrome he says it will
Work but I’m not so sure!

J_rod I sold my old grill locally
I installed Bilstein 5100 this weekend and I love the look! The ride is better than stock as well. She sits almost level she’s 1/4 inch higher in the back, I’m at the top notch in the front strut.7F66476F-3470-47F9-A7A0-E306A90D0F9E.jpg

That is a good question and I'm not sure about the preparation required. I can tell you that it came out great. The finish seems tough and shines like the paint. The power coating shop I used says that this is common and they stand behind the work. Interestingly, I had previously contacted a couple of auto painting companies and they both discouraged painting over chrome due to lack of adhesion. They both recommended powder coating as well. You might try calling around to see if there is another company that could do the work.
