I’m having a hard time finding an exhaust system I want. I was wondering what everyone else put together or found that worked.

I’m wanting Dual exhaust and I want Black tip or exhaust system completely. If I have to buy a chrome/polished system, then replace the tip with black tips I’m ok with that, but am still wondering what others are running.

Thanks for posting. I saw that thread before I posted and it was slightly helpful with sound.

I was more of wondering if people were installing a bolt on system or piecing it together?

My brother has a newer truck and was able to just bolt his right on no problems, I was hoping for the same but my truck is 12 years older and there are not as many options.
For people that bought a muffler only, did you take it to a muffler shop to have them run pipes? I’ve never worked on exhaust before so I’m pretty green.

Depends what you want to pay. A bolt on you can start at $500 and go up from there.

I kept my stock piping and just had the muffler changed out with a Spintech, retail was $120 at the time but I got it for free. Best exhaust for the price in my opinion.

I happened to find an 05 new OEM muffler on Smeggslist. Guy had it in storage for 14 years and I bought for $150. Bought an OEM clamp and gasket online and secured it that way at the resonator. All the rubber hangers matched right up to the OEM frame hooks. Pretty straight forward job.

I had a good muffler shop install a stainless steel system on my 2002 16 years ago with a stainless flowmaster muffler and it is still good here in Snow and salt county. Of course it sounds awesome as well. Would likely cost $1,500 - $2,000.00 today

    Thanks for the help guys.

Yea after looking at some exhaust systems and the costs while not finding what I want, I’m thinking a new muffler would be the way to go. Probably just keep original pipes and replace with a black tip since I’m going for a blacked out look.

What size muffler inlet and outlet did you use? Thinking the Borla Atak but reading 2.75” outlet for my truck? Anyone know what size they used and can help? I have no experience with exhaust so any help is needed/welcome!

Just had a Flowmaster put in but I now hear a rattling even when idleing and definitely when going from stop to moving. It doesnt look like they changed the rubber hangers. Could that be it? Anyone know where I can get OEM rubber hangers for my 04 AC?

I had a Flowmaster super 44 welded in. No issues. Not sure about the hangers. I still have my stock muffler they cut off. It’s got metal looking hangers on it though

Rubber hangers usually don’t go bad, and if they do, they don’t make rattling noises. Take your truck back and make them fix the problem.

I kept it cheap and simple...I bought a Thrush single in/dual out. Muffler shop then fabricated pipes out the back, added 2 stainless tips. Total price $200. Sounds deep and not too loud.

My truck is 15 years old...keep it simple...keep it cheap!

Yea I felt the same. $90 muffler, $70 install. Done. Just what I want for now. One day I’ll upgrade to dual.
