Finally got around to installing the door sill protectors. One of the first things I ordered for the truck after I bought it, and they've just been sitting in a box on my workbench since January.

Also got started on this little project today......

To give an update, I disconnected the dashcam for now. I noticed that my truck was having to work real hard to start, sometimes surprising me when it finally did.

Since this is a 2014 and I have no idea how the previous owner treated the battery I threw in a new TrueStart and it sounded awesome on its first startup. But after that... same thing.

    The ddpai has two flaws:
    • The hardwire kit will not supply power if it’s only connected to ACC. On my old BlackVue dashcam, I only connected the ACC and left the VCC disconnected because I didn’t care about parking mode. This isn’t possible on the ddpai and they instead make you rely on the software.
    • The software has no option for disabling the parking mode. It has a few options for voltage cutoffs, and the most “generous” option still results in the labored starts I’m having now. It has a few options for time cutoffs, with 15 mins being the shortest. Same deal. Third, it has a few options for the parking recording mode, ranging from stop-motion (very low FPS) to regular recording. I set it to “Sleep” but to no avail.

Since I’ve already invested time and money into this dashcam, I’m going to try one of those adapters that split power from the rear view mirror.

But if I were to do this all over again, I would go with the BlackVue line. They cost slightly more but the software is much higher quality (the ddpai has some glaring bugs and bad translations), along with how it handles the power delivery.

Tagging @ElNopal in hopes that this reaches you before you grab one of these.

Hey thank you a lot for the heads up and letting us all know. Fortunately, I held off buying this and other gadgets for until next month... I spent too much this month ($x,xxx.00)... :eek2: I shall share what mods this $$$ went towards in the old Tundra.

You have to add the stalk with auto on it to get it to work completely. If you want to add the piece I shared before, your interior lights to include the radio will brighten up if you have your headlights on in the sun.
