They should've added this feature! Lol I would buy it. Since it helps me do my yard work when hauling dirt and crap.

But this is too much to ask for. Too practical, beats shoveling all day

Would scare off all the yuppies who just want to drive their truck to the mall and then who would Ford sell them to?

I know this is Ford's golden goose but what did I count, 5 engine options? I weep for the pain this will cause production supervisors. Don't leave them alone in a room with the marketing department nerds.

10 speeds and none of them are 1:1 to cut down on gearset wear when towing. No thanks

No way my bias comes from the F150 I drove in high school that had its cruise control system recalled for starting fires. Ford's solution: unplug the cruise control power. Forever.

For me, i think it was the built in tailgate ruler/bottle opener/place to keep pens option that really won me over.

A good comment I once found while browsing truck reviews

    "
You will notice the little things that age well. Toyota’s stay tight for years beyond a reasonable service life. The drivetrain is dated, but it’s rock solid reliable and Toyota chooses to keep the same systems to protect resale value and parts availability, reliability. Ford is constantly changing options and appearances and part numbers, which reduces reliability and hamstrings the used market values.

Open the door of the tundra and slam it. Then go do the same on the ford. Drive the ford, then he tundra back to back. It’s astonishing how “new” the tundra drives and feels. THe ford will feel rather stale. In fact, drive a tundra with 100,000 miles on it. Then drive a Ford with 30,000 miles on he clock.

Look up service bulletins on the ford, then the tundra. Try to find a tundra owner who has experienced any mechanical failure. Good luck. The transmission is over built for the platform. The rear differential is the size of some 1 ton trucks. The frame is incredibly robust, ford has has buckling issues in earlier Raptors.

I wanted an f-150 for years. However I took one step over to the used lot for some homework and was not impressed with how the interior plastics were aging etc.

I am not here to crap on ford. The posters truck is gorgeous and will give him years of service. I am just stating what I know from driving and owning nearly all makes and models. Dodge has the most amazing features, but hey are astonishingly built like absolute crap. Just ask any owner of one who has had air suspension failures, dash displays flickering, paint issues....

I have worked overseas for more Than a few years. The only vehicles that survive the harshest conditions in Iraq and Afghanistan are Mercrdes Benz cars from the 80s and Toyota’s.

They are a no nonsense approach to vehicle manufacturing so you will find more bells and whistles in the ford. The ford ecoboost is an amazing engine and will smoke the 5.7 tundra. THe 5.7 engine in the tundra will probably out last many of us.

There are a handful of million mile tundras showing up in California. Yes. Million mile trucks with he only major repair being a rear differential overhaul. That is incredible.

If you want tech and latest and greatest and you only keep a vehicle a few years, get the ford. If you are boring and keep cars for decades you would be a silly not to go with Toyota.

No truck is perfect. But there is a very simple reason you still see old 4runners and Toyota pickups still rocking daily driver duty. It’s simply a superior product."

I love how that tailgate has a cup holder right next to the phone holder, and a 2x4 right in front of the cup - I can see that going quite badly for someone. As someone who works on their tailgate a lot those features were not something I'm interested in. I like the end of the tape measure to move to the end of the piece, not move the piece to the end of the tape. Just more flashy gimmicks that really don't do much.

That tailgate feature is definitely for fleet sales / contractor because mall rats don't need that in the tailgate

Which is me - I'm a surveyor who using the tailgate of my fleet Ford work trucks. It's just a gimmick some managers thought their guys would want. Everything they've shown is geared 100% to managers, not the workers. I use a laptop in my truck, but I get bench seats in my fleet trucks so no need for the fancy folding shifter as the console the bench seat provides plenty of flat space already.

I find offering the fully reclining seats only in the highest trims to be a total waste and flawed thinking.

Those with the means to buy the upper trims also have nice houses, beds, nannies (or a stay at home wife/husband) to deal with the kids, and most likely don't have to be in the office until 9:00. Although, they are super motivated and up at 5:00 every morning raring to go, and work well into the wee hours. Sleep is not needed for some freakish reason.

On the flip side, those struggling to get into the lower trims are most likely to work a ton of overtime in grueling environments, have spouses that work just as many hours, a house of noisy, unruly kids to deal with, and are just flat worn out from life and the most likely to need a nap between shifts - and driving home eats into precious nap time. THIS is the group that would benefit most from fold flat seats, yet they are denied. Damn shame, just shows how out of touch Ford marketing is with their own client base.

On edit: same goes for the fold out lunch table. The high rollers aren't brown bagging lunch and sitting in their truck. They're rolling out to sit down restaurants and ordering sushi. Once again, it's the common man who would benefit/use this feature in a lower trim truck.

......but those higher trim levels can be bought by those with a lower income. Finance for the next 8 years because now I can afford the monthly payment. Ever notice how many 80K trucks are parked outside 50K houses.

If I had my way - none :p but I'm just a minion stuck with whatever the bean counters want so we get the cheapest of the upper low end trims. Ford's stupid electrical gremlins - my latest one has fuel economy readouts getting better when idling or going up hills o_O - just bother me like crazy, I'd be much happier in pretty much any other brand and their issues. But hey, if fleets sales have 5 Ford's costing the same as 4 of the other guys then why not carry a spare for the inevitable bad one.
