Hi, guys. Hate to pop in as a newbie and ask questions that have probably been answered but I cant get a response from OV (Mat?). I really just have some general questions. I bought a magnuson supercharger and an OV flash tuner last October. Just getting around to installing. I'm new to flash tuning. Mostly have tuned old Mazdas using full stand alone ECUs (Adaptronic and the like) and only to the degree of slight tweaks after tuning by actual EFI rotary tuners.

In any case. Is the flash tuner still supported with the latest calibrations or customized calibrations now that this VF tuner software is the newer thing? I just want a good stable safe tune for a magnuson on a 2018 non-FFV truck with no other mods. Dont want to tear the truck apart until i know i have a calibration in hand that will work well. Do i just follow the flash tuner instructions and get a latest map from OV? I searched, i promise. No basic intro out there that i could find describing the process at a basic level and what maps/calibrations are available.

Thanks. To be fair to Mat, He did reply and my google spam folder nabbed it. Was just trying to confirm they had a good calibration for the Magnuson SC and that the flash tuner still gets the latest and greatest calibrations, is still a supported platform, etc.

I thought the reason they finally made the 18-20 available is because it's ready and all there? The main reason I wanted a tune is gear lock and torque management override or whatever it gets.

2018 is. 2019 is being added to VF tuner (i dont believe it is yet, I haven’t looked in mine recently). 2020 i think he is getting the ECU files to add support.

The tacoma release ended up taking long than expected. He’s finally getting back to tundra stuff as of a couple days ago so I’d expect some updates before too much longer.

I've asked before without a response but, is there a way I can check my file number without having the vF tuner? I have TIS.

You can do it with TS.

I used a Bluetooth dongle with Carista

I think you can also use a code reader

Glad to hear the Tacoma 2.0f is released. Too bad I sold my taco though..lol

Now on to more important topics, I still would like to get 2020 ECU development going. Anyone else offered their ECU for dev? I did but didn't hear back from Mat.

The 2020's will take additional time. Because 2020s now have push button start so it's a different system.

Also, I'll be emailing out updates to several of you today, including the SC guy who is seeing 14.x AFR in light throttle boost.

Thanks Mat. I assume this would be for the VF Tune option instead of the previous style tunes.

    currently vF only supports 18,19s,
Older ECUs will be supported a bit later this year. It's being worked on.

With the above being mentioned, should we with older ECUs still submit datalogs to you for tweaks until fully supported by vF?

I've wondered if this data was still desired too. S/C'd data in this case. I'm guessing that it all goes into a kind of mix for establishing the base tunes.

    Yes sure you can.
Also you guys don't have to switch to vF when it's released. It's optional.

S/C or non, all data is welcome.

Still working on updates, and will absolutely have them all done and out before we hit the weekend.

Question about data logging with a supercharger.... What is all the data that Matt is looking at and basing the tune on? The reason I ask is that the factory ECU supposedly isn't giving accurate AFR numbers if boosted. So how does he know what to make adjustments to? Sorry if the question has been addressed already, but I haven't had a chance to read every post in this thread.

Well on their site, you can get the vF software and flash cable in a bundle. I believe it's only for making your own tunes. Then there is another thing to buy which is the Tundra 5.7 vF tune pack. I do not know what all is included in that but I think it contains the OV developed features. I myself was trying to find out if gear lock and features were in the tune pack only it if they are in the vF software bundle.
