1.5 would put you right in the sweet spot I think. After the spacers are installed, your wheels will have an offset of -8. I believe the Tacoma sport wheels you have are 17x7.5 +30 offset.

 

Yeah. I don’t like spacers. Just a personal opinion since you asked about thoughts. I can’t believe nobody gave you the heads up on those wheels not going to fit. Are they 4Runner Wheels?

I’d get another set of wheels that fit.

 

Were yours the older model? I have the newer model and mine are pretty good in snow.

 

2 options really; wheel spacers or new aftermarket wheels. If you go with spacers, check these out! Here’s a screen shot of some spacers that are built very well and they even come with the needed open end ET style lugs. It may not be the most “stylish” name but they are well made. (I’ve used them)

 

Is there a 255 option maybe? 255/80/17?

 

Only use hub centric wheel spacers with thick center bore lips. I've been running 1.25" with no problem.

 

I feel so stupid, I read his reply and completely over looked him telling me exactly what I needed. My bad. And shoutout to revtune, you've been a great source of knowledge on the subject and wish I would have read a little more carefully. It looks hub centric wheel spacer are the popular vote, the guy at the tire shop recommended bolt on, ill do some research real quick but anyone have a understanding of the difference.

I want the surface area of the tire for traction especially because its 2wd

 

You get the surface area from taller tires, width doesn't add as much surface as people think.

 

I am running 275/70/17 with very little rubbing even with the spacers.

 

I have the same wheels, I use 265/70R17 and I had to get 1.25 spacers (

https://www.amazon.ca/Spidertrax-S2...t=&hvlocphy=9000651&hvtargid=pla-570343956605) these I found were the best cause there hub-centric so they won't fall off as long as you use thread locker (blue) and torque them correctly. Once the spacers were on I had to remove the mudflaps.

I'm on 265/70r17 Nitto Terra Grappler G2 (31.6" dia) with aftermarket wheels; 17x8 with 4.5" backspace (0mm offset). No rubbing. I'm tempted to try the 285/70 r17 but not sure they'd fit. I have 30days to return/swap the tires.

I'm going with hubcentric spacers as well, I would like to run a slightly larger tire though. If its not to much trouble can you post a pick of how much room your tire has from the upper control arm?
