Wondering what everyone uses to polish their TRD exhaust tips? I’ve got the black chrome tips less than a year old and they seem to have a film on them and finish looks rather spotty. I’ve got numerous different metal/chrome polishes that usually do the trick, but they just aren’t polishing out that good.

Also, any recommended protectant that can be put on them?

    Thanks

If this polish (link below) doesn't work, the cure for the film and spotty finish is going to be new exhaust tips. This assumes the "black chrome" is actually a plated finish and not painted coating. Use that on a painted finish, and it will "soon get through to the bottom of it". Might be advisable to first try any metal polish on an inconspicuous location.

Without applying a protective clear coat, your options for protection are going to be the same as for your paint, i.e. wax, sealant, ceramic, etc.

Thanks for the link. They’re actually a plated finish, not painted. TRD makes them either in a silver chrome, or black chrome finish.

I used that Simichrome polish to clean up some chrome exhaust tips on a Malibu LTZ. I found the deposited residue from condensation of combustion products extremely difficult and slow to remove, even with a lot of effort. It did work, but it was a lot of work...be prepared.

Not looking to paint as they're already black plated chrome, just trying to find a polish that works. I've tried the Never Dull and a few other of my go-to metal polishes which aren't really working. I haven't tried the Simichrome that was recommended, not sure if this would work??

Not sure about your black chrome, but I use Super Fine 0000# steel wool to polish my chrome welded on tip..

I use steel wool and windex. Seems to get most anything off of true chrome. Not sure for the black.
