Mobil 1 vs Shell Rotella Gas Truck Oil

Well, that's good since I have 90 qts of Shell RGT to use up.

 

I’m running the Shell oil. Auto zone had it for $1.00 a quart. I bought all they had on the shelf. It’s good stuff.

 

I also switched to the Rotella Gas Truck 0w-20. Our engines are not the quietest by nature, but the Rotella really quieted down the engine. I was running Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy and the Rotella seems to be a stouter thicker oil.

 

Good thing. I thought it was just me. The 5.7 does seem quieter on RGT.

 

Will have to try it out on my next oil change.

Just got two 5 QT jugs for $11 each at Walmart if anyone is interested.

 

where are you seeing this. says $21.57 when i bring up the page

 

They may have been doing an in-store deal. Let me try to find my receipt. May go back today to stock up.

Edit: Can’t find receipt, but bank transaction was $23.60 for two 5 qt jugs. I’ll go back today and report.

 

$11 per 5 qt for the 0w-20. Was not advertised on shelf. Thought it’d be same for the 5w-20, but was not.

 

I bought a 1.75L jug of Presidente Brandy at the local grocery that had just opened to the public days before. When I got back to the house I looked at the receipt ~ $11.95 ~ quite a buy I thought.
Well, turns out that was the price on the shelf for the 1L bottle instead but they only had the 1.75L bottle in stock ~ I suspect the incorrect price was put on that bigger jug. That was my lucky day.
I just checked the price on that brandy ~ 1L bottle is $13.95 and they do not carry the larger 1.75L bottle. At another store it's north of $24.00



The folks at Walmart could have easily priced the motor oil incorrectly just as the grocery store had done with my jug of brandy.
