Thats the danger zone where the frame overlaps and catches/traps all the gookies. A critical area.

So I'm worn the eff out now. I had to take kids out on the wave runner all day today and yesterday. They were having some kinda trump rally thing by the dam here on grand lake (trump is in Tulsa this weekend). Well, my 13 yo daughter was driving and we had no clue and all of a sudden all these 30-50 foot boats start leaving. I'd say between 150-200 of them. That tends to produce some big as swells, and we're on a tiny wave runner trying to make it back. It was hectic to say the least.

Well, we get back to the dock and the waves are already hitting the dock. Its rocking the whole thing, and tossing around his sea ray 510 in its slip like nothing. Crazy day.

    20200620_152028.jpg

I dunno if I mentioned it before, but I love SHOs. And their motors are built by Yamaha. So this is kinda funny. @Darkness

So out of curiosity I shined a light inside my frame, and peered inside from other holes in frame.

Drivers side is rusted out from inside-out to the wheel when I ran out of head room.

Passenger side has light scale on the inside to the front wheel.

I'm gonna go sit down, and get some water in me...

Yeah, its pretty rowdy all the way up to wheel on the inside. Still sounds solid when you tap on it, but I really do not like it. It no longer feels "safe" to me. My driving home of 6 years... in the family longer than that.

The 870k mile check up. No oil change, just top off... again.

2.5 qts low on oil after 25k miles since the last oil change. Guess I should actually change it next time.

@Tundra2 im still surprised you've got that much rust. I considered Kentucky in the safe zone for frame rust. I know you mentioned that ice storm but 1 storm alone can't be that damaging to a frame. Any thoughts on why it's so rusty?

@bmf4069 fitting that you would find an SHO jet ski. :D Tis fate...

I've seen much worse. In fact, my brother's Tundra probably is worse. strip it down, welt some plate to reinforce, or ask these guys if they're going to make a cap.

I always assumed I was in the safe zone also. I can only figure that its years worth of neglect because during my arm tour I felt mud, and other nastiness in the frame.

Lightly hammer the entirety of the front frame to break loose the scale. Stick a hose in there and rinse it all out. Once its safe and dry put your phone up in there and snap some pics or video to access. Might not be too bad.

Maybe able stick a Spray Doc Wand up in there and douse it with Ospho to convert/stop the action. Wearing a respirator for sure. Might be able to plunge a sponge dipped in the Ospho up in there, but risk skin exposure drippings coming back.

It’s bone stock on the outside and inside. The only special thing it has is the XRS strut bar I stole off a car going to the auction

I had a '92 SHO manual in silver, loved that car...until is was accordioned on I-64 in traffic outside of DC... I stopped in time for stopped traffic, but the white Ford E-van full of commercial painters did not. They were probably high at 5pm.

The whole engine was Yamaha. In the 3.4 v8 it was a yamaha head and cosworth block.
