Yesterday morning I did a test spot with PB blast on bumper support (oldest New paint job.)

No paint bubbling, or NG-ness.

After seeing what PB blast did to the new bed supports I was worried about pb coating/grease rub.

 

Took it for a test drive this morning to pick up some mulch. Initial impressions are good, it rides much better than it did even when the 5100s were new.

I forgot to measure but there doesn't appear to be any loss in lift height with the 885 coils. I also noticed the weird vibration I had around 50mph is now gone. Steering is a little touchy but I'm guessing after the alignment is done that'll get better. I did notice that I'm going to need some new boots on the steering rack so that'll be a fun adventure.

 

Regarding painting the running boards, I have a some questions. I've never painted a finished surface before.

Would it be wise to get some fine grit sand paper, and rough up the finish for better paint adhesion?

 

For a bumper that nice, I do think you'd regret it, especially when the spray paint starts to chip from bugs and rocks.

 

The first shop I called wants $250-300 plus 2-3 weeks. I'm just impatient. Need to keep calling around. I spoke to another guy with the same bumper and he only paid $150 so $300 seems high.

 

How long ago did he have his painted? Which shop did he use?

Both are important factors. He also may "know" someone. I think your patience will pay off.

 

How about bedline? best of both worlds?

I keep this Tuff box for the bed. It's expensive but sooner or later I'm going to find a deal

 

Learned something important today.

While I work from home, my wife and I work in the "office", a spare room with 2 desks. We keep the door shut so the puppy won't leave.

This morning he walked in and was sniffing around. He went into a corner behind a bed and came out with a rawhide bone, we hadn't given him one in 2 days so I was surprised. Then he noticed that we noticed and he starts pacing around the room making sounds, he got anxiety and wanted out of the room. I couldn't figure it out so I traded him the rawhide for a chewy donut thing.

When we went to the kitchen to have lunch my wife handed him a new rawhide (I said not to but she doesn't listen to me). He paced around the living room with the same anxiety, then he goes to the slider door and makes noises. I let him out, he ran around the yard and disappeared while I ate tacos.

A few minutes later I walked out to see where he went. He found a corner and dug a hole and was about to drop his rawhide in. I've had lots of dogs, but never had one who I witnessed bury food. I thought that was just on cartoons

So, I've got a digger on my hands.

He also thinks hes pretty good at hiding. Hes definitely not behind that curtain.

Here is today's featured activities.
All washers made had rough edges sanded off, and will go through a 24 hour acid bath along with bolts, and other items that are rusty.

@Professional Hand Model, did some local store perusing and found some uni-bits finally. That really did the trick.

We gave our Husky a treat while hiking one time and didn't notice that she didn't eat it. This particular trail was a 3-4 mile there and back. On the way back she stopped at that exact spot we gave her the treat and dug it up. Apparently she wasn't in the mood to eat it at the time and decided to save it for later.

 

If he appears to have anxiety with the rawhide he may have an allergic reaction to it. He doesn't want to let it go because it's rawhide and it's good but it may upset his tummy or something

Good call. It's a fake rawhide made of vegetable and chicken. He has eaten these before while hanging out in the living room with no problem, usually just lays on the rug and chews them up. That's why this time I was concerned about his anxiety, I think he just wasn't ready to eat it and wanted to hide it.

 

Sand sponges work better than paper. They last longer, too. 120 grit sponge from big box is about $4.50.
1) Sand and wash the boards down with fresh soapy water and rinse with fresh. Let dry.

2) Finish coat with your product following directions. I used Rustoleum Bed Liner.

 

So this Projector set up will blow my skirt up? I know you like them. For a $150 seems to be worth a shot.

Couple of things:

Properly aimed HID retro fits will not blind other drivers; unless you have your brights on.
The cut off is crisper than any hand foo young you’ve ever seen!
If you do lots of night time driving I think you will enjoy them a lot.

 

Thanks. I’ll be aiming these properly for sure. I’ll install them without the lens cover so as to make those little tweaks necessary before final set and then remove and bake the lens on with the butyl tape filling. Going to order these in the next few days.

 

Looks like you’ve done your research!
Mainly getting the “steps” (cutoffs) even in rotation and level is the most important before you seal the lens back on, then you can level each one individually to fine tune the cutoffs.
I don’t know where you were gonna order the butyl tape used to reseal, but I have a entire roll, that I can’t use all of it, I’ll send you half if you want it.

Hard to photo but I took these the other day but forgot to post. Everything was plug n play. I've yet to properly mount the ballasts.

You've been driving with bright ass leds and your worried about blinding people??

These have a nice cutoff and I can pull behind a car at a stop light and my cutoff is below their back glass.

The Katanas didn’t blind anyone. Never was flashed ever. Nobody adjusted their rear view mirrors, as well. They worked nicely. The longevity, at only 14 months, sucked which I hope is not the case with these projectors. The project bulbs look to only cost $10/pair so I’ll order a second set just in case.

I’ve read the Morimoto Bulb holders are a good investment which I see you didn’t order. I wonder if I should go that route because I heard they can make or break the entire long term set up?

 

I skipped em but I'm sure they are nice.
