Hello all, coming to you with a weird issue. 2 weekends ago on the highway I noticed a strange noise that I can only compare to the sound an empty pop can makes when you press the sides and the metal flexes, from the driver front side. I can't tell if it's coming from something outside of the cab or something inside of the cab. This noise only happens at highway speeds and not all the time. Can't see anything super obvious it could be. Has anyone else had this issue? I only have 2400 km on the truck

That's a new one. Any other factors you can rule out such as strong cross winds (2nd gen tacomas were known to have a loud buzzing sound from crosswinds)? Close enough that you can take it to a dealer and have a tech drive it to hear it?

It was very windy whenever I have heard it yes. There is a dealer about 5 min from me but with how infrequently it happens, I'm not confident they'd be able to replicate it. I can't even replicate it haha. Tried taking a video and I got one "pop" you can faintly hear. As soon as I stopped recording it popped about 10 times in a minute.

Your best bet, unless someone else on here has experience of this sound, is to keep driving it and try to figure out a way to replicate the sound so a dealer can diagnose it.

Some of our vehicles have the same buffeting sound due to crosswinds ~ it can drive you bonkers.
Another issue could be a piece of loose trim on the front half of the vehicle ~ even a wiper blade.
These sounds can be difficult to track down ~ keep us posted with your results.

Hope this works, you can faintly hear it. Imagine pressing the pop can so the metal bends in, then pressing from the other side and having the metal push back out to round. Those are the noises it makes

Yes I think it's definitely related to the wind, like a big gust pushes some panel inwards and it pops, then when the gust goes away quickly the panel pops back to where it was. That's the best way I can describe it, but so far does not seem like a common problem
