Yes I did. I’ll get my Betty Crocker back on and bake them shut again.

I’m sticking with bulbs just due to simplicity. Even spending half of $450 is too much and then all the wires and shit would mess up my feather dusting.

 

Projector upgrade is by far the best mod I have done.

You will not regret it. And you do the whole thing for way less then 400 dollars.

Nope but still considering it. I believe I can dig up the hid bulbs that are for reflector style headlamps

 

2 things.
Why not go full tilt with 55 watt hid's?
Do you think you could use a set of projectors from a wrecked car/junkyard find?

I went with the lower wattage projectors but the output is very bright (and hopefully the bulbs last longer)

I'm sure you could use some projectors from another vehicle but if you can get these from the retrofit source at such a low cost why even more with something like that?

 

Okay, so I put in my new supports, and things did not go as planned. Broke my drill bits.

I did record two videos, but was interrupted once, and had my blunder the second time.

Should I upload them?

 

Looks like your bulbs are only $10. Not bad.

With those LED Projectors the bulbs are built into the projector. They go bad and its a new $450 cost.

 

Cause there dirt cheap and my unemployment check ain't going to far

 

If you don't have the money then wait till you do. Using something designed for another vehicle just sounds frustrating.

I'm on furlough due to covid-19. Doc wants me to avoid being out in public as much as possible, me high risk due to previous lung surgeries.

But I wandered over to inspect said projector system and I agree with you now

 

Shoot us a pic of your wiring set up. I want to see what all these wires/harnesses/adapters/igniters look like.

Maybe a pic of your cutoff line on a wall?

My ye olden ancient ½" drillbit broke after drilling the 3rd hole. Did a test fit.

Due to the expanded shank on the bolts after threads it wouldn't have fit anyway. Ran out to a big box store, and bought two ⅝ drill bits.

After drilling out the first hole again... once i got to the end of the hole the drill bit caught, and bent the hell out of it. Jeez.

I didn't need a wrist anyway.

Amateur hour over here.

What I would give for a drill press with a vise...

 

Try a slower speed?

 

I am on the slowest speed.

 

Try a smaller bit to pre-drill and then go larger. Sometimes this works and sometimes it makes a mess. Keep it slow and give it a go.

 

@Darkness You the one that had the catalytic skidplate cover? You still hanging onto it?

 

What he said. I'd do 1/4, then 3/8, then 5/8. Center punch where you want it, oil the bit, go slow, and add oil as your drilling.

 

Thats exactly what I did.

The only difference was as I was punching through it caught, and spun the drill around.

Got all of them drilled out now.

Turns out that PB blaster will eat away at fresh paint. Luckily the paint on the underside of the bed has cured long enough to not be affected. Just the new supports I'm making.
Had to recoat them.

 

Speed up slightly as it comes through and take most of the pressure off.

It’s different. I’m not a fan of the front wheels being the same offset or backspacing as the rear.

 

It is different, and neat that its possible.

What's the purpose? Looks like it's set up for desert overlanding? How does 4 back wheels help?

I don’t see the overland gear that usually comes with the name, looks like they used fiberglass flares used for long travel, but then stuck a extra tire on to rub on that flare.
I was thinking high speed prerunner; but he posted a video going over a hump of dirt at about 3mph.
Aging the front wheels have a super weird offset towards the truck not away from it, so bigger tires can’t really be used. Some people have more money that sense I guess?
