So I am almost paid off on my 2013 4.6. Would you buy a new truck with the 5.7 now, or wait? I will.keep the 4.6 also.

Why do you want another if you’re just about to pay the 13 off?

For the 5.7 but I decided not to after I just test drove it.

I test drove it and then decided not to at this time. Financially it didnt make sense and the gas would probably be a killer compared to the 4.6. Maybe it would be better to save up some money and see if a better deal can be had when the 2021 hits the lot. My 13 only has 95,000 miles on it. It would be nice to have a 5.7 but is it really practical along with a $600 payment?

What made you change your mind? I have a 4.6 also. I definitely wish it had the 5.7 but i got a great deal on it and it does just fine. If I was buying new I’d definitely would have gotten the 5.7.

Great looking truck!! I have 305/55/20 on mine right now, but I might end up going a little taller in a skinnier next time.

Did you have to trim at all? What is your suspension set up?

Also, do you have any exhaust system on it? Thinking about it for my 4.6 but not sure how the sound would be

I have the Toytec Aluma 2.5 coilovers and SPC's up front and Toytec Boss rear with resis, 1/2 axle shims, and Toytec shackle set at 1.5. No trimming for me at all. I have a Flowmaster 40 with dual outlets. As far as for waking the 4.6 up with the throttle sluggishness, I have a Pedal Commander.

No laughing matter rocking a 4.6. Embrace it.

My reasoning.... I wheeled a 2wd Tacoma prerunner Set up like all bad ass 4wd tacos. It started as a laughing matter most trips (all trips to be honest). It tested my skills to get thru most trails. Also, I did my share of recovering help for 4wd tacos. I got the last laugh because a 2wd truck got a 4wd taco unstuck ..

Moral is take the 4.6, embrace it, and rock it brother. Unless you need a 5.7 then thats a different conversation:cheers:

No I don't need one. It was a bug that said get one before they phase out the V-8's. My truck has 95,000 miles on it, and not even broke in yet. I think the 5.7 would be killer on gas since they are only rated 13 city and 18 highway, not to mention 84 payments at $600. I'll just buy another gun and be happy lol.

Like my 4.6 Tundra it does everything I need gets about 18 mpg I’ve only towed utility trailers with quads but I’ve hauled loads of dirt and heavy loads of building materials never any problems. I couldn’t see paying 6000.00 more for the 5.7 when the 4.6 will do what I need it to do.
If I was pulling a heavy camper or a car trailer I would have got a 5.7

You get 18 mpg with 285/70/18s?

    I get 14-15 mpg with 305/55/20s.

Yea 18 mpg I drive mostly on the interstate highway, it’s a little less if I just stay on the country roads then it’s more around 16. I just checked it today when I filled up and it was 17.8 mpg. Heading down to West Virginia next week to see a buddy I’m sure it won’t be that good going through some of the mountains down there. Mostly flat roads where I’m at. Now if I go down to my property in the southern part of Ohio I’ll get a little less because it’s all hills and dirt and gravel roads or if I’m pulling a trailer with quads or mowers. But overall I can’t complain about the mpg’s here.

So now the dealer is asking me to trade my 13 in. Here is the quote with trade-in and payoff. If I pay it off, it would bring my total finances down to $29k.

KBB is showing trade in value around 15000.00 to 16000.00 they are giving you 12000.00 I’d take your truck out of the deal or make them give you more money for your truck. They are going to put your truck on the lot and probably list it for 20000.00 and probably get close to that. Right now is definitely a buyers market in cars and trucks.

Yeah I wouldn’t settle for that. I paid 19k for my truck a month ago and it’s a ‘14 and has 131k on it. My bluebook was 18-20 range, so I was happy because it came with a cap which added a lot of value to me. But it was bone stock. You could sell your truck privately for much more

Holy bad trade-in deal, Batman! $12k? I would have told the dealer to put down the crack pipe. If you’d let your Tundra go for $12k, where do you live, I’ll be there today with cash!

Seriously, I agree with others, you could sell it yourself in a heartbeat and get $15-16k. For shits and grins, run a trade in request through Vroom Online. I did one on my 2019 SR with about 10k miles a while back and they came back with a trade value close to what I paid for it a year earlier.

Then they emailed me later upping the trade offer by $500.

Of course that was before the whole virus thing wiped out the auto industry.

Yeah the market is definitely a mess. This dealer only has 3 2020's on the lot. I wonder how long it would take me to sell it on my own.

Here too - was checking new dealer inventory around where I live and it’s sparse. There was dealer in MD that had several TRD Pros though...
