I was digging up old photos of the Tundra, and bullshitting on the last couple of pages on this big ole job I made myself.

I'm not sure? Just pics I guess because I was rained out this morning.

Now that you're here I wanted to ask about the mysterious "coal Canister" I remember being suggested. Fuel filter?

The day I took my bed off someone suggested replacing a coal canister of some kind. I'll see if I can find the post.

Now would be an excellent time to replace the Fuel Pump. Not sure how long they last but I’ve heard its easier to do with the bed removed.

    @empty_lord.

It was @NUDRAT that suggested the "charcoal Canister." (Line 2.)
    20200614_154836.jpg

Still no clue what he's talking about.

Okie dokie. I'll Google some pics I suppose.

Rain finally quit. Went out, washer inside the wheel well area, and felt around blindly.

Passenger side feels like regular ole metal.

Drivers side near the front of the bed has some scaling.

Glad you guys suggested that!

Finally found the right tool to remove this rear axle. Think I’ll adapt and use my 3/8” ratchet with 14mm and a cheater pipe.

that tool is a crows foot for removing the brake line. to remove the 4 14mm nuts i just use a ratchet

a line wrench removes the brake line just fine too

The fuel filter on your year is right along the frame before rear tire on driver's side. Fuel pump would make sense since it is in your face.

Nice. Its tight in there. My 1/2” ratchet won’t fit to remove those 4 bolts. Do you use the 3/8” ratchet? I just use a simple brake line flare wrench to remove my brake line.

3/8” long ratchet and a shallow socket usually.

Thats what I already used in a dry run test to make sure I have the required tools. Nothing else fit.

Been looking at the FSM on the axle bearing replace. Interesting to see the book says to grind off the retainer and ABS rings and then use a punch.

Stoked! Found out my other local Stealer I’ve ignored all these years has killer online pricing and pick up available. No more search and pay $ship if I don’t want to. Reason I started looking at them is their amateur hour axle repair fiasco. I guess some times a good thing can come out of bad.

After some dry fitting a 1 inch piece of 3X3 square tube that pops was able to retrieve from the scrap bin at work, I elected to drill out the welds on the piece below to remove this bracket. 20200613_124114.jpg

I elected to gamble putting 4 holes in my bed, and it worked out! No holes in the bed.

I used this piece to guage my ability to do the "tailgate brackets." I did a pretty poor job...

1st drill bit I used was too small, went up the ⅜ inch, and had some luck. Had to drill in more to remove remnants of welds that I'd missed. Went full bore with the ½inch bit afterwards.. Looks pretty knarly after I had to do some prying. I think it can be crushed back down once the full 3×3 stick is in though. 20200614_182119.jpg 20200614_182056.jpg

Here is an archive pic (pre-clean up) of the Blower Motor Resistor. I cleaned up the corrosion and put it back in last year when I hosed off the heater/condenser coils. Think I’ll replace it soon as a preventative measure as I ran across an article today on itstillruns.

Are you going to replace everything from the black connection down to the white block, or just the white block?

Terminals on block look pretty rowdy. Femal Terminals on the black (mounting piece?) are probably just as bad.

I agree. I will not be trying my hand on the much more delicate work on the end brackets.
