It’s a CrewMax, so the rear sliding window and all of its hardware are back there.

I need some opinions from those that have changed the entire system. I did everything but the dash speakers and @JAMES said not to hook them up to the amp or they would blow.

I find myself reducing the gain setting through the DSR on the rear door speakers so the front stage is more prominent. So two questions evolve here
    1) If I add the front tweeters from James will it help the front stage or just make it extremely brite
    2) without front tweeters hooked up if I have navigation giving directions while on a phone call hands free it kicks the phone call audio off. Factory will still allow directions and audio at the same time.

    3) If I were to go ahead and order the fronts do I just add them with the wiring at the amp?

I'm about to pull the trigger on nearly this exact same setup (non JBL truck). Thanks for writing this up. I was curious about how much KilMat I'd need.

Glad I could help that’s what this forum is all about.
System is incredible, the DSR1 is tricky educate yourself on it before it arrives.
With factory h/u and all my components ( without front dash speakers) at 50 it’s clear and loud as you can play it and still not distorting just too much sound inside the cab.

Did you need all three of the rollers that you ordered?

Also, was 72 sq ft of Kilmat plenty for the job?

for 1, it really lifted the front stage. For me it was a frequency that hit my tinnitus but it was excellent and different speakers helped. But if you don’t have my ears it really is remarkable how up front and open it was.

    Dunno on 2

3 just connect the front tweets from James at the HU. It really is surprising. As mentioned I ended up putting different stuff in front which works better for me, but the setup from James was very nice and has remarkable clarity. Never would have guessed.

Yes, I did inside the skins and outside skins on all four doors. The back wall and floor under the seats. Did passenger footwell since I had that seat out and was going to do under drivers seat but only had 1 full sheet left.
If you do everything I did and want to do the entire floor of the truck you would need 3 boxes.
Do yourself a favor though and do inside and complete outside skin of doors. When you close them they will go thunk instead of sounding like a tin can.

Yes, the narrow one helped tremendously sealed the mat around corners and curves. It was less than $20 for all 3 rollers in a set on Amazon.

Why did you go with the Kilmat? I'm looking to yank my doors soon for the new speakers and want to make sure I usetuse right sound deadener.

    Sorry to hijack the thread!

After reading on here and some other places, it seems to me that Kilmat had the best balance of cost, performance and ease of use. I've fooled around with car audio some over the years, but I've never messed with sound deadening. This seemed like a decent beginner friendly product.....I could be way off base though.

I recently ordered a couple of boxes of it from Amazon....I'll be installing it in the next week or so.

No worries but I would read the “sound deadening” thread that has several great options. They all depend on what price range you want to be in.

    Thanks @dspilot you are correct

Quick question, I ordered a JRT 2-10in box from JRT that waiting to be delivered. I'm in the process of putting the sound tampering in the back of my crew cab. Does the sub box fit in the back with putting the original insulation sheet thats held on with 6 or so door clips under the window? Look like in the picture you put it back on and no issues fitting

You are correct just make sure the box is positioned just right ( left to right) also the jack will have to be relocated. He will have detailed instructions on that, actually I think he emailed the instructions and I printed them off.

The great thing about the install is it is all plug n play.
That Kilmat was cheap but quality excellent so i figured while I had everything apart take an extra 30 minutes a door and an hour for floor and rear of truck.
No more sounding like a tin can when you slam the doors.
Volume as loud as you can stand it with zero distortion.
It did take me a couple of months to get my sound processor adjusted
