What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

I had a 2000 4X4 for a little while that had a new frame and bunch more. It wasn't as bad as yours rust wise but it wasn't winning any beauty contest. I planned on swapping out engine and trans but opted to sell it as well as my much loved 03 Infiniti M45. That funded the 01 project

 

What made u want to swap the engine and trans?

 

I pressure washed them good and used quite a bit of Wd-40. I’ve put probably 500 miles on these springs so maybe they’ll break in a tad more to make it easier

 

I can't quite make out the model number. Is it plug and play as far as the install?

 

The dealership did not touch a single thing on the engine, leaving behind a rusty mess leaking oil and exhaust from both manifolds. Getting to those parts would require engine removal. If I go that far I would either rebuild or replace. My buddy works at junkyard and gotten in a 03 rollover that was mechanically sound and was giving me the whole vehicle for $800

Anyone on here know of anyone with kings 2.5 coilovers? I have a few questions for someone with them!

 

Just put a new alt, battery, and belt on my 06 4.0 tundra. Alt just started whining yesterday morning then on the way to parts store whole truck shut off -. - but all is good again now I bought a premium car quest re man alt and it has a life time warranty. Original Alt died at #141, 000 Let's see how long this car quest re man lasts

Wish I would have seen the crossmember upgrade before putting in my rear shock request. Would love to ditch the stock mounts and gain some travel. Have a set of front and rear Fox 2.5 DSC’s sitting in my clients office collecting dust because of all this Covid.

 

I know we have a few members here with King but I can't remember who. They all had positive things to say.

 

Finally got a chance to wash and detail it inside. I know it’s not a big deal, but man, I’m really happy with the tint, it’s made a huge difference in the Texas heat.

 

It's a thing of beauty and a clean vehicle always drives better than a dirty one !

Well im not sure how similar your Icons are compared to Kings. When tou bought them did they come set at a height or bottomed out? Also can you adjust height while mounted in the truck?

 

The ICON and Kings will both ship at a specific ride height. You likely won't need to adjust them but it can be done while they are mounted with a spanner wrench. I'll likely have to adjust mine after installing my new bumper but up until now I've never adjusted them.

Do it! I’m sure you could find someone to buy your rear 2.5s without losing much if any. Might as well do it big the first time and be done with it. It’s just money...

 

they come pretty standard. I’ve adjusted mine several times. Very easy while on the truck. Well with 650# springs.

 

I was only wondering because I was not going to get UCA right away. So I wanted to see If I could set the Kings below 2” Untill I got uppers.

I’m super tempted, need to do some research on shocks that work with this set up.

 

My buddies 06 ram has 2 holes in its frame. All these trucks are susceptible. Toyota’s are moreso partly because of how they’re grounded and also, Dana industries frames suck

 

Question for the people more knowledgeable than me.

Is there a single plus to disconnect the door harness to take the door off, or do I need to feed all the wires through?

 

I'm not sure, but if you need to feed ALL the wires, and assuming there's less than a 12 or so wires, you could theoretically install a quick connect such as a nanboshi connector.

We use them at work for sensor jigs.

I busted all but 3 of the 10 clips pulling the old ones off and I bent them to hell. IDK how some guys managed to pull theirs off and sand/paint them. I'm glad as hell I just paid the price (which now seems reasonable) rather than trying the restoration method.

A good tip: you've got to alone the tabs to be a little bit towards the back of the truck. Slightly off from the slots, that way when you tuck the end near the mirror in and push forward they all align. I learned after I messed up

 

Do you have that part number handy?

 

not worth it. I’m trying to figure out if I just snip all these wires to get the door off the parts truck, or if there’s a connector somewhere.
