Audio cut out unexpectedly - need input

    Yesterday I was enjoying how amazing my system now sounds with the Hertz speakers and new sub/sub box I got from James when it just cut out.

    I run 2 amps, an Infinity Kappa 5 that powers the component speakers in the doors and the 10" sub & a JBL JBL GX-A602 2 channel amp that powers the dash speakers. JBL HU and Maestro DSR-1. I think the DSR-1 blew. Here are the symptoms:

    • The DSR-1 won't recognize when I plug into my laptop.
    • AMPs are getting power (checked with multimeter) but not powering on when I turn on the truck (2020 tundra).
    • Both amps cutout at same time yesterday and neither amp turns on with truck is on.
    • All connections are tight, ground is solid (on bare metal).
    What do you think? Is it the DSR-1 or something else?

    If you got a surge somehow they will blow. I think the engine bay fuse is higher amps but if the amps are receiving power that one should be fine.

    Also if there’s a problem with your remote on signal wire they won’t power on if the switch is set to auto on. If you switch that switch over so the amp is on whenever it receives power and they still don’t turn on you know the signal wire is probably not the issue.

    That was my first email out. Its a bad DSR-1... but ironically, right after I ordered a new one the old got its act together and started working.

    Are your amps using low level signal sense for turn on?

    If so I'd check the 12v switched/remove wire and pin to the DSR1.

    Not sure I understand what your saying here, but I have both amps wired to the DSR wire per the instructions that came with the harness.

    Im not totally familiar with the DSR1 but it looks like it plugs into the factory HU with harness, then uses the RCA cables (low level) to send signal the amps. The amps get power from the battery and from switched signal that is turned on with the key. Its usually a blue wire in the harness.

    If there was an issue with that wire or its pin the DSR1 might not turn on or function, not sending audio signal to the amps and the amps wouldn't work correctly either. Hopefully its not an issue that occurs inside the DSR1 unit and just a wire issue.
