Anyone know what wireless carrier the Car link app uses and if there is an option to use a specific carrier? I'm limited to only a couple carriers in my area...

    Thanks

did you ever get an answer to this? I'm trying to install today and there seems to be a few parts that have no instructions.

Anyone install the hood switch? If so, where, and how? There are no instructions for that.

I installed this kit on my 19, and was looking to add it to my 20 SR5 with no push button start. Will this work with it?

I have had it with my shity factory remote start and having to restart my truck every time I want to get in it to load stuff.

I have questions that I can't find clear answers to after reading this whole thread. I don't want to bother James just yet.

I have a 2014 1794 with the little mic thing at the bottom of the dash console.

Is this kit now 100% plug and play? Or will I have to splice any wires?

My truck will not press and hold remote start, it requires 3 presses. Tested that today.

It seems from reading this thread, that the doors still lock and unlock alot more then necessary.

Does this unlock the truck before starting, then lock it back after it starts? This is silly and a security risk, I often carry firearms on me.

It's bad enough the factory remote start requires 3 cycles of the door locks already, now we are adding several more. And people wonder why door locks fail lol. I know it's really not from this, but it doesn't help matters wearing them out.

If this unit unlocks the truck, then starts, then locks again, how fast does this happen? I can't have any significant window of time to allow entry due to the things I may or may not have in my truck at any given time.

When the truck remote starts, is the radio and hvac operable, while my wife or mistress are in it waiting for me? Viper alarms I've had in the past all allow this. Otherwise this is a big negative.

Can I add the car link GPS phone app module myself at a later date, easily?

Lastly. What is the standard warranty?
Has anyone needed to use the extended warranty, and do you all judge it to be worth spending $50 on?

I have seen several people on here have to return there modules for issues, but that is at initial install and I assume fully covered by James. But is there any long term reliability reports on this fortune unit?

Thanks for the information, and I hope to be able to do business with Tech12volt and James, including later upgrading this shity stereo system, while keeping the factory head unit.

The little mic thingy is not a mic, but a vent for the auto climate air. No need to mess with it.

If you get this remote start and use the factory fobs it still requires 3 lock pulses to activate. The MyCar addon allows you to do it through the phone app from anywhere.

Yes it still unlocks the truck for a few seconds before starting the truck then relocks it. It is just part of the deal. Literally just a few seconds. If it errors out it immediately locks again.

HVAC is on the last setting you left it on when remote started on a factory A/C and Radio. If you upgrade to a tesla radio both A/C and radio are on.

Yep, add the MyCar addon. I love mine. Can even make sure it is locked when in the bed. Just in case I forgot to lock it.

I've had mine for over a year and zero issues. I use it multiple times a week.

    Thanks Kameleon,

I thought that mic thingy at the bottom of the center console that says security is the glass break sensor from what I read here, or has something to do with it? Thats why I asked if there was any wires to splice or if this unit is plug and play for my situation.

So the radio won't be on but the hvac will be. That's better then nothing but disappointing. The wife has a cow about music lol.

Whats this tesla radio you mentioned?

I will have to hope the truck does not stay unlocked to long. We shall see I guess.....

Thanks for letting me know about the car link, I will certainly add it later but watching funds right now after returning from the beach lol.

Oh THAT mic, yeah. I thought you meant the one under the steering column like around your knee area.

If you are watching funds, stay away from the tesla radio! It is cool and all, and I have one, but it can get expensive with the addons and such. lol

Honestly I would just save up and buy the remote start and carlink together so you don't have to pull the dash apart again. Another thing to note: it only stays running for up to 15 minutes. After that it alarms and turns off.

Does anyone have a phone number for James and tech12volts?

I have a couple quick questions before I order.
His website does not provide a phone number.....

    Thanks guys.

    Thanks guys.

I was looking for faster answers than email, so I can place my order with confidence.
Not having a phone number is normally a huge red flag and I would normally never do business with a company that does that.

However, I have read his replies here, and everyone's glowing reviews, so I am not worried about that really.

But I understand he is busy and phone calls take time.

    Guess I have no choice.

    No worries. I appreciate that.

I just don't want to order this, install it, and be disappointed like I am with the factory remote start. That thing pisses me off to no end lol.

I should just stop over thinking and order it lol.

On a side note, does anyome know of a remote start that also gives you button less proximity entry?
I Really miss this on my Limited 4Runner.
Having to get the remote and push a button is stupid for a vehicle in this price range and year when my 2011 4Runner had it factory. I actually prefer the key over push start, but touching the door handle to unlock, or proximity unlock is awesomeness.

Never heard of this. but it would be awesome. I have his evo start with the car link and I have really liked it especially the phone app. The only thing is I wish there was an option to turn off the auto lock feature. I do really like the fact I can unlock and lock the truck from anywhere. I left my truck at the house one day and my daughter had to get something out of it I unlocked it from 40miles away I find this awesome.

The newest Tundras have this now on platinum and 1794, not sure about limited. You simply have the fob in your pocket and touch the door handle and it unlocks. When you get out, you touch the handle In a certain spot and it locks.

Super convenient, especially if your hands are full.

I found some alarms on Amazon that do this, by proximity, automatically unlocks when your close with fob in your pocket, and locks when you walk away automatically, but none that also do remote start.... Yet.

I read that we can't add this newer factory feature to our older trucks, because it's part of the computer system programming , so just adding the door handles and wires would not make it work.

I have debated looking for a wrecked one and swapping the handles and the needed computer systems but not sure how that would work in a slightly older truck.... If at all.

Does anyone have actual instructions to cure the alarm going off if the remote start cycle runs 15mins and then turns off?

This is super annoying as I can't always get there in time, and I park in front of a townhouse with 2 babies in it, sure would like the solution if anyone knows please.

    Thank you.

Am I it to late for the group buy, and has anyone try the remote start install on a non G key(2010 tundra)? According to the website the non G key is not plug and play. Is it any worse than a G key install or the same? How long does it take to ship out once an order is placed? Really interested in buying.

Fixed myself by reading the install instructions more closely and asking Randy. It's all there, missed 1 wire had to manually posi tap on factory harness left side of dash.

Non plug and play usually means you have to manually splice all the wires into the factory harness. Posi taps make it easier, but I find them not super reliable personally.

This will greatly increase install time, and complexity. But is very doable with proper instructions and patience and or experience in these types of things.

Tech12volts shipping is not super fast.... Or super slow. Expect a couple weeks give or take.

Got you and thanks for the clarification. Yeah I’m not so sure if I want to be splicing into the factory harness even if it’s just posi taps, it still makes me a little nervous. Anyone out there have some real world experience with NON G key install? Is it holding up okay?

I am a little confused. I want the remote start and carlink app support. The description states the carlink is $145, yet I do not see this listed in the menu to order. I do see MyCar for $159. Same thing? Thanks

Came back to this post after a friendly alarm setoff while sleeping in the truck with ac on to cool it down for those 15 minutes. If anyone else wonders, James' email mentions the keysense wire and the pdf shows it here. Black/white keysense wire gets connected to factory harness "plug 5" pin 2. Color depends on year.

Interested in picking up a remote start now that winter is around the corner and my truck will (unfortunately) be outside. Any buys/specials going on?

I would just buy it from Amazon, this way returns now are valid until January in case you need/want to return it. I would not expect any/much support from the vendor, at least here.

Much appreciated. I thought lots of folks were very pleased with the vendor here.

That said, quite a bit cheaper through AMZN

For those that put this in a 2018-2019 sequoia, is the install exactly the same as the tundra, or is anything different?
