I got lucky when I geared my 01 tundra and found a redneck who is really good with diffs. Even the dealerships use him instead of there own guys.

It's a great show. The dialog was amazing. Having said that, I knew immediately they didn't film it in KY. Not a single scene was shot there. Most was shot in CA. And it's a damn shame because KY is a beautiful state in most places.

Agreed. I knew as well that it was SET in Harlan, but not actually Harlan. A shame.

Hey side note, I know your dealing with rusty randy and his bad bed braces......I see your using metal pipe or whatever, what about just finding(if it’s available) square or rectangle metal tube that would fill that same span and then just drill a hole thru that, then you could get some decent beads on the edges of the sq tube. Just a thought I had earlier but didn’t express it

I mean maybe it’s not, I wasn’t exactly clear on what you were trying to do or why, or for like what purpose it actually served. And maybe whatever length that is, isn’t a common steel size, it just popped in my head and thought I would share.

Wanted to check clearance on the lower shackle bolt out of curiosity. I was pretty sure I did not have enough room to remove it.

The Momba won't budge the bolts holding on the hitch. You can see "tamper marks" on the middle bolt where my 6-point heated up the metal, and mis-shaped it.

The way I see this job I have two options.
    1. Cut a bolt sized hole in the hitch, and paint.
    2. Cut all 6 bolts holding the hitch on, and replace with new.
Any other view points would be welcome @FrenchToasty

I will probably never take the hitch off ever because its a nice option to have, but removing the whole thing temporarily would help me deal with Randy.

According to my well worn tape measure its 3 inches. I don't see why I couldn't get a square tube of that size.

Not sure which Running boards you have, but mine are the form fitting type. I think I was missing some body brackets so I fabbed up some Aluminum Posts for extra support on the rear 3 brackets. The front body bracket had the factory hole in chassis for a 10mm bolt with built in washer flange bought at big box. I used self tappers on the wing brackets into chassis. Strong as Ox.

Woa woa, all that to remove a bolt that........ could be removed and inserted from the other side I’m assuming?
Cut that bitch and when you reassemble stick a new bolt in from the other side? Even if there’s a weld nut on the other side, dremel the weld and knock it off and just put one on the opposite side?
I haven’t looked at a shackle mount in a while

does it have to be fully removed to drop the leaf pack?

Here are some refresher pics for you.
    Outside, looking in.
    20200610_190650.jpg
Inside, looking out towards "shackle cup" (as I'm calling it.)20200610_190638.jpg
The top shackle bolt on the inside of the shackle cup.20200610_190718.jpg

To answer your question "does it have to be fully removed to drop the leaf pack?"

Yes, because of the top shackle bolt not having enough clearance to remove it.

When the tension/bolt are removed from the front of the leaf pack mount, would that whole rear shackle swing down, giving you room to remove the top nut and bolt needed to get the back end of the pack out?

    Couple of things.

My gas mileage has always sucked just like everyone elses, except mine has sucked just a little more than normal. I’ve noticed my gas mileage is back up to normal sucky range since changing all 4 o2 Sensors and MAF. I never had a CEL but just changed them all at one time because the rears were the originals and the fronts were Bosch. The fronts had been changed a few times over the years, but the rears?

Maybe getting .5-1mpg more now. City driving seems to be where the best improvement has shown. Every Sensor is talking Japanese now. Maybe its Summer Blend Gas? Warm temps?

I can’t tell you how many people love my Lumbar Mod on the front seats. First thing they say is wow I love the backing on this seat. Some have driven in her over the years and some for the first time, but they notice it right away without any prompting. I want to add some support to the lat areas on my next venture which is a difficult area to access without major work. The Lumbar area is pretty easy to do.

Thanks for that! Mine are the form fitting as well, but each side has three different brackets.

It's been near impossible to find any relevant search results on these.

I finally found this one on a Craigslist ad.. I think I'm finally making some progress.

Here is what my curiosity wanted to do today. Remove one leaf, and begin frame treatment around the leaf mounts since it would be very hard to do that AROUND the leaf with it mounted.

That was my plan. Also, since the beds off I peaked into the frame on the crossmember at rear of the cab.

You will get your official Redneck Card revoked if you keep posting pictures like that. Clearly the weeds are not tall enough, but the real problem is that car is held up with wheels and tires, not cinder blocks. Try harder next time...

Harlan is indeed a tough place. When God was considering the prototype for Appalachia he had Harlan in mind. Good book on the topic is "Hillbilly Elegy." JD Vance nailed it...
