Hi, I’m going to purchase a 2021 Tundra when they come out later this year. I think this may be the last year to get the v8? Either way, I’m getting one... my question is, does the sr5 off road and sport, limited, platinum, and 1794 edition all have the same suspensions? Might sound like a dumb question. I’m even considering getting the trd pro. I plan to make this truck last a long time and do some mods to it over time. I got more questions too, but in your guys’ opinions, whats the best overall tundra to get? I will be driving around town, going hunting, and out in the mountains. Thank you!

The short answer is no they do not have the same suspension across those trim levels.

    questions for you
How much real off-road do you plan to do?
    Do you like features like
    Power folding mirrors?
    Climate controlled seats?
    Sunroof?
    Leather?
    Auto windows?

platinum has the most features and you can get a trd off-road version.

limited you lose some fit and finish features but also can be had in trd off-road

trd pro is an sr5 with pro suspension leather exhaust fog light upgrade.

trd sport is an sr5 with a sport suspension package and painted grill and hood bulge.

if I had it to do all over again I would go for platinum or limited trd off-road but my truck is in town and some dirt roads. It’s just a real pia to add some of the features that these trucks offer.

    Welcome!
@Swfltoyomafia has answered most of your questions, but I will reiterate the following:
Determine what you like on the inside (creature comforts such as climate control, sunroof, leather, RCTA, BSM etc.) Some/most of these are difficult or near impossible to add afterwards. Outside stuff like suspension and wheels can be changed out afterwards with minimal effort.
They all start out with the same suspension, except the Pro. Then you can add TRD Offroad to almost any trim which gives you a little different suspension, but again, it will be the same no matter which trim level you add it to.
TRD Sport only comes on SR5 for some reason. I got that because it was the only option with no chrome, which was my no.1 priority. Also no leather, which was no. 2 priority (I don't like leather). Set up a priority list like that and start checking off the likes vs don't likes.

Thank you guys, I don’t really care for all the fancy features inside if I had them I wouldn’t complain.... but honestly, I just want a tundra crewmax and will primarily use it as an every day driver, take it on hunting trips/ fishing, drives in the mountains, etc... I don’t plan on doing any crazy off roading. Sounds to me like I should go for the sr5 off road edition or the platinum with the trd off road suspension for what I want to use it for.

Look at the limited or if you like the brown interior check out the 1794 also. I have found a bunch of 1794’s I’m my area at a good price and it has a ton of features. They screw you on the options and power folding mirrors are a real handy everyday feature. I have a 1794 sitting in the garage right now and it eats me up my sport didn’t come with some of the things on this truck. Maybe o maybe they will release a trd pro/sport platinum.

I’m not a fan of the 1794 edition. Not hating on it. Part of me wants to go all out and just get the trd pro lol. I have time to think and research, also going to read random threads on here and get an idea for what I want to do.

Keep in mind that TRD Pro is not " all out" . You have already said that you don't care about features as much, but the Pro is a SR5 with leather, other than the apparent better suspension. For the same money you can get a Platinum and add the aftermarket suspension you want. Then you will have things like climate control, seat settings etc. for the same price.

Yeah you’re right, I’m new to the tundra game so my mind is all over. I think it’s either a sr5 or a platinum for me once I get inside and compare each trim and price, etc.... whatever one I decide to get, I’m sure this forum place is a great place on getting advice for mods and stuff that pertain to what I would use it for..... I don’t know a whole lot about all the Tundra has to offer so I appreciate the feedback

This is spot on. You can buy great suspension aftermarket but you can’t replace the features that come stock on higher trim levels

https://www.toyota.com/tundra/features/packages/8261/8272/8275 Take a look at all the features.

I didn't care about leather and didn't want a sunroof. I purchased a TRD Sport package and I am happy with it. I don't do heavy off-roading so I didn't need a PRO and this package suits me fine. Excellent ride.
