    That sucks! I have had people ask me why I don't have them with my wheels that poke. You just answered why. I believe they (can) do more damage in a shorter period of time then the wheels will do in 10 years. Just my opinion. I do commonly like they way they look & I have been pulled over for not having them. :mudding:

    weird, i have the bushwacker extenda flares (ones without the lame fake bolts) on 3 tundras now and have never had an issue with the gasket coming off or loosening. My 14 tundra had very minimal paint marks when i took them off for trade in, my 16 thought they had worn grooves into the meta on the front- that was mostly based on how the local shop cut them to fit my aftermarket bumper before we noticed the insane noise and destruction they were causing.

    Before we install any flares we clean the the backside of the flare (where the double side tape goes) with alcohol and then use a 3M adhesive promoter wipe.

    It’s pretty straight forward, just have to be patient and clean.
    I have fender flares on my personal truck that I painted and I applied the weather stripping. I promise I could remove the flares and have no damage to my paint and I doubt the weather stripping will be coming loose any time soon. The flare weather stripping is a PIA, that’s where patients comes in.

    Yep! That's what I did and they are good so far. You cannot stop dirt from getting between the paint and the rubber strip so you need protection to keep them from rubbing the paint. Especially if you intend to use it off road. Hopefully you can buff it out and restore the paint.

    To be honest I was like “Dude is a zen master”. To drive a truck and not care if it looks like your using it like a truck must be very freeing. My wife put a tiny scratch in my tailgate and I obsessed over it for months. Lol

    I have grown to enjoy a beater that’s for sure haha. My two little kids play in, on and around the truck steady and I don’t even flinch when they drop their bikes handle into the door haha. That’s honestly partially why it’s taken me so long to finish the body work. Once it’s done I can’t imagine not having ocd over my
    hard work and nice truck. Also partially why I chose bedliner to finish the body, it’s very easy to touch up and hide.

    Oh and since we’re on the fender flare thread, I will be re installing my flares once everything is bedlined. ;)

    Anything resting on the paint will rub...no way to avoid it. Flares are a one-way ticket.

    Best idea I’ve seen is the Rhino under where the flare goes on the fender. Of course that only works on a black truck.

    Personally no fender flares for me, but if I did, that’s what I would do. Typical cars that are wrapped, years ago it was taken off around five years if I recall correctly. But I don’t see why it wouldn’t last longer. Just gets harder to remove the older it is.

    Typical PPF lasts 3-7 years based on care. Since it will be covered from the flare I don’t think sun damage would be an issue.
    Just a hunch but the question may have been referring to how long it will take for the flare to rub through the film.

    Yeah, curious about if it would rub through. I would think that it would be OK because there is not really any metal contact. I have had some protectant tape on my car for a rooftop rack and it has done pretty well except for where there was metal contact.
