    So here’s the story.
my battery was failing so headed to auto shop for a replacement. On the way I stopped for fuel and turned the truck off. After fueling the truck wouldn’t start. I mean no clicking no nothing. So I leave it and head to parts store and buy new battery. Installed it and still nothing. Like I have power but when I turn the key nothing happens. No clicking noise. When I hold it key in crank position radio and time display goes blank but comes back on a few secs later after I stopped turning key.
so next thing I do is check fuses. All good but I replace starter relay just for good measure. No go. Still nothing. Then I try to hook up my diagnostics reader to check for any codes. Diagnostics reader can’t read any codes saying it was due to low voltage.
So I figure I go for the big one and change starter. Toyota v8 starters as you all know ain’t a fun one. Anyway. I change out starter(tested new starter to be safe and worked perfectly) and still nothing.
so my question is could the problem be my ECM? Any suggestions on what else to check?

Look at your neutral safety switch, AKA, range position sensor on the side of your transmission, and it’s connector for corrosion or damage. Try starting it in neutral instead of park if you haven’t already.

Just tried starting it in neutral. No luck. I’ll take a look underneath at sensor next.
Wonder if ignition switch could be a problem?

Ok. So I must have been born ass first because I don’t know how I missed the starter fuse. Did a second check and found a 10amp fuse in the 30amp starter fuse location. Think I missed it cause I was looking for a 30amp but I should have just looked at diagram‍♂️ Looks like previous owner stuck the wrong fuse. Can’t believe I did all that work just to be slapped in the face by a simple fuse.
I will now sit here and wait for every reply explaining my idiotic mistake. And I deserve every bit of it.

Shit happens. I wouldn't have caught that.

Seems impressive to me that a 10 amp fuse would last that long in a 30 amp slot; I would have thought it'd blow a lot sooner.

Exactly what I was thinking. Had it for 2yrs and it didn’t pop. At least I did my valve covers when I dug into the starter. No more oil leak on my exhaust. Trying to find a bright side to it

Dude, believe me, it happens way more often than most people admit. Kudos for owning up, it happens to everyone.

Glad you got it worked out. Electrical stuff can drive people crazy.

I could tell you about the time I spent many hours chasing an electrical issue on a transmission in an Isuzu cabover. Problem #1 wasn’t too hard to find, was actually a broken range sensor and plug like I mentioned for your situation.

Replaced the sensor and connecter, tried my best to adjust the sensor. No go. Checked the fuses, all OK. Tried readjusting. Tried finding troubleshooting procedures, not an easy thing to get for an Isuzu. Round and round I went with it for hours...

Eventually found that the driver pulled the trans fuse before bringing it in, but when he reinstalled it he stuffed it in the unused spot beside where it should have been.

But I really wouldn’t want to tell that story. :anonymous: Unless it helped somehow.
