I wrote to Toyota about purchasing a vehicle outside of California and they told me all Tundras and Sequoias are 50 states legal, there is no additional equipment added to a California model. So as long as its new, it should be ok. He will have to pay the differences in sales tax to the DMV but I'm not sure if the dealer handles that or you pay it out of pocket

Just up the road from you in Owensboro, I’m waiting for the dealer to fedex me all the paperwork. Once I have that I’ll take it downtown and get it inspected and put my UK plate back on!

NICE. Im up there regularly! So I guess we have to go to the clerk’s office since we decided to buy out of state. Makes me a little sad.

Here's a twist on out of state buying. If you buy out of state, your new vehicle is not protected by your state's lemon law. It is protected under the Magnuson Moss Act but not your local state law. I ran into this when I bought a BMW from Missouri and brought it back to Texas. In Texas the lemon law requires the dealer/manufacturer to destroy the vehicle, never to be resold if deemed a lemon. My BMW fell under the Texas Lemon Law definition of a Lemon; but, since I bought it out of state, it was not covered by the Texas Lemon Law. It fell under the Federal Consumer Protection law (Magnuson Moss Act https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnuson–Moss_Warranty_Act) which, caused BMW to have to pay me damages but I still had the lemon. Mind you it was a motorcycle, but still a lemon. Shortly after the lawsuit a driver in a car ran over me totaling the bike so all ended well.

Now, NOT saying that Toyota will be or is a lemon, but, one never knows. Something to consider though.

I bought my truck out of state, but I told them not to put the taxes in the loan. I would pay those when I licensed it, and I'm not paying Utah sales tax when I live in Wyoming. Granted, with my trade value I only owed $4.XX in taxes anyway, but the point stands. It's crazy to pay interest on taxes.

BMW paid damages, the bike had 7 water pumps in 8 months. The driver that ran over me was insured and they paid for a new bike. So all in all it ended well so to speak.

OH!! Thanks for asking. I ended up walking (hobbling) out of the ER a few hours later. Had some stitches in my face.

It's totally true. I only had a bike for a short time before I decided it wasn't for me, but when I hit a blind pot hole at 35-40 the bike stopped... I did not. Landed on my right elbow pretty solidly, but the first thing I did was get to the bike, shut off the fuel, and get it stood up. Then I wondered if I had been hurt. It was kind of weird, but it was like I didn't feel anything until I had the bike upright and secure. It is the way.:amen:
